LOs that STTN

First of all- I'm talking STTN as in down to sleep between 7-10p and up between 7-10a.

If your LO falls into this category, did you do anything special that you think contributes to your success or was LO just ready so it happened? The post about moms BFing in the MOTN made me wonder if I should be offering the pacifier more vs nursing. If DD has gone 4+ hours, I assume she's hungry so I feed her. She's also petite at just 12lbs or so so I'm apprehensive about withholding any calories. That said. I'm quite tired these days. She sleeps 8p-8a but she's typically up between 12-1 and again 5-6. I don't go to bed until 11 or so so that's part of my problem but it'd be great if she could drop one of these feeds. It used to be just 1 but it's been 2 pretty consistently since thanksgiving.

Story of my life. He used to be so good. From day 1. Was sleeping almost 8 hours straight and only waking to eat quickly at 3-4am. Now he's up multiple times a night. My DD wasn't like that. And with this baby pacifier doesn't help. Even if he's not hungry he wants to nurse a little before going back to sleep. He does take a paci but it's just not helping with the MOTN sleep. I'm at my wits end and going back to work. The unpredictability is the most difficult part. Not knowing how many times and at what time he will wake up! Hoping others have good advice.

My pediatrician gave us the advice to not let baby rely on boobs, bottle, binkie, or your arms to fall asleep (from week 2 on). We took that to heart. He's also slept in his crib from 2 weeks on (mostly because I was so sick).

We let him fuss himself to sleep (If needed) from very early on. He's been a great sleeper. Up 2x's a night from weeks 2-6, 1x a night from weeks 7-10. From 10 on he's slept from the 9 o'clock hour to the 7 o'clock hour.

ETA: My pedi actually told us if we followed his advice we'd have a great sleeper and other parents would hate us because our baby would be an "easy" sleeper. And he is a good sleeper.

I feed him a little more before bed and use the magic sleepsuit and he sleeps 9 to 7 usually. Sometimes later sometimes earlier.

DS bedshares so I don't generally fully wakeup MOTN and neither does he. But he does nurse.

I EBF, Itty bit is 12 lbs 7 ozs and when she wakes at night I feed her(which has only been recently and has only been a few nights).

Around 2 months we started putting her in her room. The first week it was the crib but found she slept more soundly in her swing. She woke for a MOTN feed for maybe a few weeks then just one night she stopped. I want to say it was a slowish regression on how often she woke. Then recently she found her thumb and has been soothing with it. If she wakes at night she generally finds her thumb and is back to sleep in a few minutes(we still grab her if she fusses though)

I do wonder if it's my fault she sleeps through the night. She used to wake around 3 am to eat and i wonder if one night I slept through her cries...i don't think that's how it happened but I also can't be sure.

LO still wakes up at least once a night, sometimes twice. I always feed her, because she is on the small side. I may start offering the pacifier at her first wake up if our 4 month appointment goes well tomorrow. I just want her gaining weight!

Ok so this just happened for us yesterday and last night. Of course I was up multiple times wondering what was wrong/if she was still alive.

The changes we made was taking her out of the zippadee zip and putting her in a fleece sleep sack (with arms but hands out). She instantly slept longer and with arms above her head/hands to touch things. We tried the sac a few days with cotton pjs under and she slept better but still had a wake up motn. My husband put her in fleece pjs with the fleece sac and she sstn! I now think she might have been waking up cold?!

Anyways we're leaving today for two weeks of traveling now so I'm sure all bets are off.

This is all interesting!! I think she is truly hungry because she aggressively goes for the boob and drains them both. She doesn't fall asleep nursing but does fall asleep right after being put down with her pacifier. I feed her during the day as often as she'll tolerate it so not sure how I could have her get the MOTN calories during the day. She also used to fall asleep nursing while we rocked but now she just likes being set down and sang to and then she falls asleep a few minutes after I leave her room so she needs no crutch to actually fall sleep.

I might just need to get over it and hope she sorts herself out soon. @Elaina22‌ our 4 month appointment is Tuesday. I'm hoping we're in the 30th percentile or higher for weight! Fingers crossed emoji.

I wish we had some trick to share but we do not. Every night is a bit different in our nighttime routine. We don't schedule him during the day. I will say he was over 12lbs when he started STTN. But whether or not that made the difference- I don't know. He just started sleeping unswaddled in his crib 3 nights ago (due to rolling) and we didn't bother with a transition. We just don't sweat it and deal with things as they come.

@herecomesthesun‌ I totally agree with just rolling with things as they come. It's just been the past two weeks that she's really shaken things up on us and it's taken a toll on my mental functioning capabilities :) Im hoping now that I'm on winter break, I'll be able to recoup. Just wanted to see if others had any ingenious ideas. Thanks all!

Just like my first, mine doesn't eat MOTN anymore.  He does wake up for the paci anywhere from 1 to approximtely 100 times.  It completely varies and he won't truly STTN, meaning I do not have to be involved in any way, until he is unswaddled and can put the paci back in by himself.

For both of mine I did nothing to influence dropping nighttime feedings.  I did not force X amount of formula during the day in hopes it would make them sleep better.

Mine naturally stopped eating MOTN but she is FF and uses a paci. She has also naturally started sleeping longer nothing we have done any different. I always have a bottle ready in case she does wake up hungry...usually during growth spurt. She also started eating more during the day on her own and now gets 30 oz. during the day. I think it really just depends on bay but I think you should feed them if they are hungry...heck I still wake up in the middle of the night hungry sometimes lol.

@dvmmomma Oh, I understand completely. We had a bad couple of weeks (for us... it's not bad compared to some) and my brain function is hurting. I do a lot of apologizing!

We try it all- and if one thing doesn't work, we try another. Each night brings something a little different. LO randomly woke up this morning at 3 AM but it was after 8 hours of sleep. He was hungry- so we fed him, he went right back to sleep. Now if only I could go right back to sleep!
    ;))

Usually if our LO wakes MOTN it is because she has rolled to an edge and can't get away from it. Moving her doesn't help so we end up playing the paci game after she has woken up. She has always been a great sleeper. This rolling business could have come much later.

D has been STTN since about two and a half months. I will make her a bottle with 5-6 oz at around 8:30-9:00pm. She then immediately goes to her paci and passes out within the hour. As soon as she falls asleep, she spits out the paci. No feedings or paci wake ups until 6-7am. I've usually already left for work, but she'll wake up happy and ready to eat within the hour. Takes a nap around 9-9:30am, then again at some point between 1-3pm, then a quick cat nap around 6:30-7:00pm. We didn't put her on a schedule. She just kind of made it herself. The kid likes to eat, and usually does so every 2 1/2 to 3 hours during the day. Pedi uped her amount to 5-7oz. It hasn't really changed anything.....just makes more spit up. She hasn't been swaddled since about 2-3 weeks old. Always hated it. She likes long sleeve sleep sacks and fleece jammies without the feet.

Lol at anyone who thinks their baby is sleeping through the night due to something they did. Yes, you can swaddle or not, put on stomach or not, cosleep or not, but the biggest part of it is whether your baby is a good sleeper or not.

DS is FF, but I think it was just a matter of time for us. He dropped to one MOTN feeding at 7 weeks and just started STTN the last few nights (other than occasionally popping the paci back into his mouth). We haven't done anything special to encourage it--we just follow his cues and try to stick to his bedtime routine.

We have the same schedule, we don't force a schedule but its a fairly regular routine

Our little guy has been sleeping through the night since 10 weeks and I really think some babies are just easier sleeper than others.  He's now 4 months old and still sleeps through the night.  His feeding schedule (breast milk) is:  7 a.m.- 5 oz bottle, 3 4oz bottles at daycare, 4oz bottle at home and then I nurse him around 8 a.m.  He usually falls asleep after nursing around 840 p.m.  We put him in a footed onesie, fleece sleep sack w/arms out and his crib mattress is on a very slight incline.  If he gets fussy, he will usually find his thumb.  Knock on wood, but we've been extremely fortunate so far with an easy sleeper.

He naps anywhere from 3-5x/day.   We followed his lead for this schedule and now try to just stick to it.  He is on the long and lean side, we have our 4 month appt tomorrow.
