My mil has one that she uses a ton. Seems to work well. I have just been using a pot or those ziplock steam bags. I don't have room for another appliance. I reuse the steam bags at least once. I might look into a small electric one now that we are starting blw with R though.
What's the advantage of the electric steamer vs. just doing it on the stovetop?
This is bigger than my own stovetop steamer, for one thing. Second, this has a function where you can set it to start cooking at a certain time, like some slow cookers, so that food can be done with you get home.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
I have a rice cooker with steamer basket. It also has a delay start option and will keep everything warm until you unplug it. You use water every time, and it's very easy to clean. It's nothing super fancy otherwise, but I like it. The brand is Aroma; I got it at Target.
I've never used an electric steamer, but I love my bamboo steamer. I didn't use it until I started steaming stuff for Maia, but now I want to use it for everything. Especially eggs, now that I have learned that it's possible.
