How to ask my midwife

This is our 3rd pregnancy with our midwife.  The second time I was in shock and just Facebooked her the picture of my positive pregnancy test to let her know I was pregnant.  Many of the other girls have been getting more creative in asking our midwife to be there for their pregnancies (like one girl left a positive pregnancy test with a puzzle for her to put together on her doorstep that revealed the family).  Anyway, she just recently had a holiday party and I ended up stealing her gift during the gift exchange (did not know I was pregnant at the time).  It was the book "Our Water Birth" and I was thinking of giving her a copy (because she really wanted it) with something written in it about her being there for our next water birth. How does that sound?

ITA. Please don't let this become a thing (like elaborate ways to ask someone to the prom).

My mom is a midwife. I don't think she would accept a client who left things on her doorstep unless you were a long-standing family friend and socialized with our family on a regular basis. This seems so creepy to me.

This all sounds weird. I can't imagine doing anything other than picking up the phone or writing an email to make an appointment

Hmmm, maybe it's just my community then. We're all very close with our midwife. She organizes parties and moms nights out. Most of us moms all hang out and our kids are friends. I guess it's not like that with other midwives.
