Does anyone LO belly button go in and sometimes stick out when you change their diaper? Could it be a hernia? My sleep deprivation is making me think of the worse case scenarios.
Probably not. My daughter is 7 now and has a deep innie, but I was worried she would have an outie for over a year. Even after that it was just sort of flat for a long time. A hernia would probably be belly skin pushing up too. And even if it were, stomach hernias usually resolve themselves.
My LO has an umbilical hernia that sticks out a lot. Even if it is a hernia they are harmless. The pedi said it should close up on its own. As long as it closes by his 4th birthday they won't do anything about it. My pedi didn't even mention it until I asked him about it. So don't worry
I second that it sounds like an umbelical hernia. My son has one and it sticks out (his is about the size of a large marble). I would check with your pediatrician at your next visit so they can check the size of the opening (which sounds small) and can keep an eye on it. You'll probably find that it pops out the most when your LO is crying or straining
