Hospital-based CNM recommendations?

I just got a positive test for number two yesterday, so I am starting to plan.  With DD, I had prenatal care at Mountain Midwifery, but had a medically necessary induction with University Midwives.  They were supportive of my natural birth wishes, even in the face of an induction, so I was thinking of going back there.

Also thinking about Denver Health Midwives and South Denver Midwives/ OB.  Anyone have experience with either, or have other natural-birthy recommendations? I don't want to experience a transfer again, which is why I have ruled out Mountain Midwifery. Thank You.

  • Congratulations on number 2! I'm 34 weeks along with my first babe, and I've been seeing some wonderful midwives at Westside Women's Care in Wheat Ridge (I live in Northwest Denver in the Highlands and it's only a few minutes away from home). I absolutely love them! Patient visits take place at their office which is on the same campus as Lutheran Hospital, and all of the baby deliveries take place at the Birth Center in Lutheran Hospital. The CNMs are very knowledgable and open minded.

I am also working with the CNMs at Westside Women's Care, but I am going to their Arvada office for appointments. I love them, they take their time with each patient and have answered all of my questions and worries. The practice also has several OBs, so you if you are worried about being high risk at some point, you can take some of your appointments with them and get to know each of them as well - but you don't to. I highly recommend WWC.

  • I wound up going with South Denver OB. They deliver at Littleton and Castle Rock, so they are way South. They are so awesome, and I like that they have OBs and CNMs together, so there is no risk of winding up with some stranger at another practice, if you risk out, like you said about WWC. I noticed that their Yelp reviews are all either five star or one star, so I think people either love them or hate them for some reason.
