@ggandlee I have a similar confession. DC is open until 12 on Christmas Eve. DH and I are both off. You'd better believe we're utilizing those 4-5 hours of childcare time.
Happy Birthday @chrisy_01! Hope your day at work is a lot smoother than yesterday.
I guess A upset his little friend at DC yesterday. He waits all morning for him to show up and gave him a hug but apparently A was having none of it. He pushed him away then made his friend cry. Poor little guy. This morning when he was leaving I asked if he would be nicer to Theo today. He said, "Yup!" I'm sure he doesn't have any idea what I said.
@wedding06 Supposedly there is a brutal 15 month sleep regression. Maybe he's hitting it early? Frankly, I wouldn't know a sleep regression from any other night because it's been a disaster over here since the 4 MW.
Molars, how long do these fuckers take to erupt? A had white spots and was a hell beast, and I was sure we'd see them any minute. They receded and now his gums are just a little swollen.
@sunshin41 Oh yeah, they recede. Then come back, then recede again. My mom said when I got my two-year molars I didn't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time for a good two months. Terrifying.
Considering I am going to FF our next baby from the start I'm going to be praying that 2.0 is born with a full set of teeth. Not milk teeth, real teeth, so we can all be spared this hideous process.
@BrittAnnie19 When I had A there were a few other babies born that morning that were the exact same size and one was born with teeth. Somehow a miscommunication occurred and the LC thought A was that baby. When they were wheeling me out from L&D to our recovery room she stopped us and said she needed to talk to me about nursing since he had teeth. I looked at Pete, my mom, and my nurse and was like, "What, teeth?" Mind you, I had just finished nursing him for 40 minutes but I was still kind of out of it, so it was a possibility I didn't notice, I guess. My nurse shooed her away and said she was mistaken, then apologized profusely and said, no, he had not been born with any teeth.
My child has only 4 teeth. 2 on top and 2 on bottom. The 2 on the top aren't even all the way through yet. Going to be a long several years of teething here I am afraid!!
I'm just catching up on the last two days, I'm not sure where to even start, this has been a rough week in N'13.
@CFox815 I am so sorry to hear about the loss in your family/friends- we are here if you need us, I hope that this is pulling your support system together and you can find solace in each other.
@lfigge I'm so happy you are getting treatment for LO and that the head bobbing occurred while at the doctors. My DH little cousin has a seizure disorder and it took several trips to get a successful documentation, I'm glad you and LO didn't have to endure that particular torture. I hope you get a diagnosis and treatment plan very soon! I'm sorry you're having to experience this.
@ggandlee I'm glad your DH is going to get the surgery he needs, stay strong! And I hope he stays healthy until then!!!
I hope the rest of the sick babies and families feel better soon! We have no teeth so I can't commiserate but I'm terrified of teething based on everything I've heard.
Hayley slept the entire night in her crib with one wake up last night. I woke up at 6am in disbelief. I'm sure I'm jinxing it, but I feel like a new woman, it was so nice to wake up without a baby in the bed. She wet her bed though, which makes me even happier she wasn't in mine. I think it's time for a larger diaper size.
I think for Christmas your body need to give you a hall pass "I will not bother you this week Katie". I wish this was something I could send you via prime.
@LGJS1010 One of my goals in life is to do one of those secret Santa things where you go in and pay off everyone's layaway at Walmart. How much do you think that would run? Couple hundred thousand? I love to be able to bless that many famlies in an unexpected way.
Would you take a 30% paycut for a job that sounded right up your alley? What if your current boss was obviously trying to kill you with her low tech skills and arbitrary and constantly shifting deadlines? Still no, right?
I'm bummed that I'm out of the price range for a really cool opportunity at my old company. They posted that they preferred a CPA, MBA, or JD, so I was expecting it would be comparable to my current salary. Disappointment!
Ok. I've had enough of today. Im ready to get back into bed and have a glass of wine and a cry. Why is it only 3:30?
Come cuddle on the couch with me. Dh has a nice fire going and there is chicken soup cooking in my great grandma's cast iorn pot. We can drink homemade hard cider and watch Steel Magnolias.

This all sounds delightful. Please knit me some fuzzy socks while you guys are cuddling.
@LJGS1010 our local electric company does a promotion each December where you can donate to pay for heat for families that cannot afford it. Every year it brings me to tears.
@LJGS1010 I am an idiot for tagging you wrong. I have to think of a phrase to help me remember the order of your letters.
Lawyer Judge Girl Scout? <-- I think I can remember that one!
@CGMB is still Career Girl Makin' Babies in my brain.
Um, that is WAY more attainable.
Coats is something that I struggled with growing up. We had them, which I am grateful for, but they were hand-me down or worn over multiple years and I was a jerk about being embarrassed about them. I know it was a big deal it was to me as a kid when I finally had a nice coat to be proud of!
@LJGS1010 Yeah, we could make it work. I'm not the breadwinner, but DH's income (Self-Employed) is variable, so it's nice to have my steady paycheck.
I was honest about my salary and said I was very interested and if they are able to reconsider that aspect of it then to please get back with me.
It just seems strange to go backward in salary... but if it has no impact on my family and I'm happier doing it... hmmm. Now I really have to think about it.
So my dad hates his new assisted living place. After a lot of back and forth and really sad phone calls, we are moving him back to the nursing home. I'm sad for him. I'm sad that I can't take the kids to see him at the nursing home. I think I'm just sad.

@trtlcrzy there aren't any rules against bringing the kids there, but it's a shared room with only one place for someone else to sit. The toilet has a brace over it so it's only able to be used by my dad. (his roommate used diapers) I would have to hold Luke and DH would have to hold Claire pretty much the entire time. It's about 2 hours from our house, so we'd be putting the kids in the car seat for 2 hours then asking them to be held still for however long we visited and then go back home in the car another 2 hours. It's too much on them. Not to mention, my dad is not always "with it" and may not know who they are or I am which I think at this point would scare Claire.
At the assisted living place he had an entire master bedroom with bathroom to himself. It would have been easy to take the kids to see him there.

I'm so sorry. That's rough. It's too bad they don't have a community room or something you could use. It's so hard when the people we love aren't the person they used to be.
They probably do have community rooms, but my dad can't leave the bed without major assistance. He's had part of his foot amputated along with bed sores and several falls because his legs are so weak. He can't sit for any length of time other then to use the bathroom and even then he doesn't make it all the time. The last time I was there was for about 3 hours and I stood next to his bed the whole time. I fed him lunch, read to him and then waited for him to fall asleep before I left.
@lfigge I am so sorry that you all are going through this. You are doing an amazing job taking care of that little girl! I hope that the medication helps quickly.
@lfigge Hugs momma! I'm happy you have answers and medicine, but sad you're going through this with your baby. I hope the Topomax helps ASAP to prevent more head bumps!
ETA Obviously I hope it helps control her seizures and gets her healthy too, but I am sad for her bumping her head so I hope that gets helped by the meds.
@Mommyxtwo1113 hugs lady, I'm sorry he isn't liking his new place. Hopefully he will be happier back at the nursing home.
@lfigge I'm so sorry you guys are going through this. I hope the meds can get figured out soon so that the seizures can be controlled. You are an awesome mommy, and your sweet girl knows that you are taking good care of her.
So earlier tonight I was sitting on the floor with Hannah on my lap facing me. She was bucking around and I'm not sure exactly what happened but she flung forward and hit her head on the corner of my tooth. Instant dent and then bruise. She now has a small goose egg on the right side of her forehead. She cried harder for that than she did for her flu shot earlier this afternoon. I felt so bad!
Yesterday I was playing on the floor with Evie and she came running over and fell into me, basically head butting my lip. I sat stunned for awhile as she stared at me cause it hurt! She didn't cry, so we went in with our business. I got up and looked in the mirror and both my top and bottom lips were bruised, like blood blisters. She had a bruise or her forehead. These kiddos are resilient!
@lfigge I'm so sorry you are going through this. Glad you got some answers and meds and I hope you are on the right track!
Man....so many of us need a break actually brought tears to my eyes to hear some of the struggles you all have been going through this week. Thoughts and prayers for each one of you. We are wrapping Christmas presents tonight and watching Elf. Hope the weekend brings some relaxation and relief for those who need it.
