Is it normal

i recently had to switch to formula and I noticing a change in baby's diapers. She use to have a bm every diaper. Now she may have a bm every 2 or 3 days. Is this normal for a formula fed baby?

Formula fed babies generally poop less than BF babies.

FF babies can go up to a week without a bowel movement. It's always best to consult your pedi though.  S gets uncomfortable if it's been more than a day, and at >36 hours we do treat because he gets so miserable.

Did you switch to a sensitive formula?  Some, such as enfamil A.R. are made with ingredients that are a bit more binding such as rich starch.

  • When you change formula, it can take a little bit for your baby's digestive system to adjust. We are about to switch from a BF Supplement formula to something else, but even without the switch DD has started to poop less (1-2 times a day from 5-6 times a day) and holy crap (no pun intended) do they stink.

  • This happened when we switched to formula. When I was breastfeeding, he was pooping several times a day, but now it's only about twice a day. The color and consistency changed, too, so now his poop is darker, greener, thicker, and stinkier.
