Meaning do I use it?  No.  I guess I've  never seen a need.

I was told by my baby care class and my pedi not to use it, because the powder can be inhaled. From what I understand, big no.

No.  I used the corn starch type once and it gave her a rash.  More importantly I use CD, so I don't use anything on her at all because it can cause issues with diaper absorbency.  I use her Burt's Bees powder for me after the shower, though!

hmmm my pedi told me to put it on top of the diaper cream bc it forms a better barrier between the poop and the skin

Yes, in almost all of his diapers. It keeps his cracks and crevices dry and fresh-smelling; never yet had a rash.

We only buy the cornstarch-based stuff, not talc.

Sprinkle it in any shoes you wear without socks to keep them from being stinky.

ok, not to sound cranky, but I don't understand why all of a sudden *everything* is bad for your baby. People have been using baby powder for  a long time.  I've never read a news report about a baby suffering from "baby powder lung". If these things are so bad for our children how come they never hurt any of us? Our parents used baby powder on our bums, we're all ok. I know my lungs are just fine. Yes

I use powder and cream on a rotation. Cream, then powder, then cream etc. No diaper rash so far!

Nope.. Dr and nurses said not to and there is no need.  It isn't good to inhale and it is one less thing I need to do during a changing!

Things change.  And more research is being done these days to know what is good and bad for children.  IMO things are not what they use to be 30 years ago.

If you feel the need to use a powder...they have a liquid powder.  I use it when she is just pooped to make it sort of smell a little better but that would be my only reason.  I only use diaper rash cream when I see it is a little red.  Never had an issue.
