TTC After a Loss

NTTCALR- OCD much? (or other little quirks)

As I was taking a shower the other day I realized that I am a little OCD when it comes to the steps that I take while showering.

It goes like this: wash hair, rinse hair, put conditioner in hair, wash my body with my loofah, shave my armpits, shave my legs, wash my face, wash my cooch and bum, shave cooch, rinse hair.

The other day I didn't remember the conditioner until after I washed my cooch and bum and I kinda freaked out. Like WTF do I dooooo? My whole morning was just messed the hell up.

Some other things:
1. I have to brush my teeth after I shower. I even tested this by brushing them BEFORE and I still had to brush them after.

2. I can't be the last one eating in a group. I literally scan people's plates and slow down if necessary. (freaking weirdo)

3. At home when looking from the foot of the bed I sleep on the left side. When we are in a hotel I always sleep on the right. (no idea what that's about)

4. Another food one I just noticed the other night. When eating multiple things (like veggies, potato, and steak) I have to eat them in equal amounts at the same time. It drives me CRAZY when MH eats all of the salad first, then all his veggies, then his potato, and last his meat. (I need help)

So, anyone want to make me feel better about my crazy ass self and share some of your OCD tendencies? :D
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

Re: NTTCALR- OCD much? (or other little quirks)

  • Hehe. I definitely have an order for doing everything like shower tasks, taking vitamins in a certain order, and where I stand in classes at the gym.

    Some food ones:

*I take little bites and have to have a little bit of everything on the fork. For example, it needs to include a cut of chicken, rice, and cooked carrots for every bite. DH eats each part separately- all the rice, then carrots, and then chicken.

*DH laughs at the way I eat pancakes (and so did my dad). I cut around and around creating a smaller and smaller square.

  • Thanks for saying I am normal @furrypaws :D Glad I am not alone with the routine in the morning. One day I was off and I got out of the shower without rinsing my hair at all. I am pretty sure I have more too lol

@flyoffeve I am the same way with my food. Unlike Furrypaws, I don't mind my food touching and I like to have a variety of taste in my mouth! I had a friend who ate pancakes like that!

I have to bag my own groceries bc I have a system for weight distribution and not crushing things

I have to use a napkin to remove my coffee lid to add milk and sugar. I have to put the lid on the counter with that same napkin under it. I have to use the napkin to put the lid back on. That napkin must then be thrown away and I take 2 more for potential spills.

  • @Km380- I have to wash my face last too!

@Nikolie93- You are completely normal! I have to no matter what or where we are sleep on the side furthest from the door.

My OCD tendencies include but i'm sure aren't limited to requiring the volume of either the t.v. or the radio to be on an even number.  If it is on an odd number I freak out and have to change it right away. Also, at night I have to check my alarm clock at least 3 to 4 times although I'm positive I have already set it the correct way.  My DH gets so annoyed by this when he is trying to sleep. UGHH!!!

  • I am OCD about my CDs/DVDs and books being in alphabetical order (books are alphabetical by author and then book title).  I will freak out and have to fix them if one is out of place.  DH loves to mess with me about that.

I will also join the "hate things touching on my plate" bandwagon and I usually eat my veggies first, then meat, then potato/rice.

DH also thinks I'm a little OCD about my clothes.  I like them folded a certain way and I will re-fold if they are not right.  Hence why DH doesn't fold my clothes because I will just re-fold them.  I think I just don't like my clothes to be wrinkled (which doesn't explain why lounge pants are folded in quarters and jeans are folded in thirds).

  • That IS an interesting one @cfearsy!

For me, when making lists I make a draft list where DW can add whatever she likes, but have to make a final draft before actually using the list.

I have a very specific morning routine, that if broken makes me feel very flustered.  Take a shower (I wash my face last), moisturize, brush my teeth, set up my make up area and then take the dogs out to potty.  Anything that happens after this scenario doesn't matter as long as everything before hand plays out properly.  :)

  • @km380 no, no, no. I don't use the same soap to wash my face as I do my cooch and bum! I use a separate face wash but I just feel weird that my hands were just all over my cooch and bum and then I touch my face lol  And yes, your coffee one may win this one!

@catvaughn5002 I have heard of many people that have the volume thing. It's just something I never notice but maybe I will now. Hrmmmmm

@rmpar29 MH would have a field day with me if I had to have things in alphabetical order like that!

@sdfonz619 It seems that a particular morning shower routine is one that many have. It's nice to know I am not alone. MH thinks I am nuts :D

I was JUST thinking about doing a GTKY OCD post!! I think I have a bunch of little quirks but one that stands out is grocery shopping :joy: I'll write down my list of groceries and then depending on what I need or what part of the town I'll be in, I'll re-write the list tailoring it to the layout/floor plan of that particular store LOL! It's so that I won't have to keep looking up and down on the list or go down every single aisle. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
OMG! EMOJI-GATE! GUISE!!!!!! Those emojis are like the ones on my iphone!!! I'm SO CONFUSED!!! @Sterling13! GET IN HERE!!! @furrypaws! New emoji-gate development!!!

  • There's alot of them. Buuuttttt I wash my body last in the shower, I can't wash it first or second or third because it would just get dirty again if I wash anything after! In the grocery store I do fruit and veg first, bread, dry goods then refrigerated and frozen. If I forget something and have frozen stuff in my cart it screws me right up! at night I always lock each car....twice and check every door to be sure its locked.

    That's just a few of my OCD's

  • @rmpar29 I organize CDs and DVDs alphabetically as well. My novels growing up were alpha, too. As I look in my office now though, the books are height organized and by categories. The novels are small in the middle, then ones about teaching, strategies, reading, writing, and literacy coaching is the biggest on the end. Geesh that makes me think of how these coaching books are like textbooks- not cool or maybe cool? Nerd alert! :P

  • @eurydicenymph I have to do laundry on Sunday's. I skipped this Sunday because I wanted to make sure everything will be clean for our trip Friday. It bothered me so much that I ended up doing the laundry last night.

Maybe that's why I feel off today :|

  • Another silly one is our dogs. They get fed in a certain order every day. On bath day they go in a different order. When they get brushed/nails clipped there is a whole different order. Hubs says that I'm crazy, but I say that it's about ease.

The coffee/tea cupboard has to be organized with coffee, tea and hot chocolate all separated. This is so that when I'm half asleep and reach for my coffee I know where it is. The rath of hell rained down on Hubs when he had riffled through the cupboard one day and I couldn't find my coffee easily the next morning.

ETA: I feel like our OCDs all have reasoning behind them. There is a reason we want things done a certain way. Which helps make it a little less crazy.

I am going with that  :D
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • I'm organizationally OCD but routine doesn't bug me.

    1. I buy things in sets... Even if I don't need whatever it is, if it's a set I usually buy it.

    2. When shopping I organize the shelves.

    3. All of the bottles in the shower have to be evenly spaced and angled the same direction.

    4. My fridge is categorized and everything is in straight rows.

5 On my desk if I have a pen, calendar, tablet, phone ect. It all had to be parallel, evenly spaced and not touching.

  • @kreardon I have no idea where I got it from. The other night I looked down and saw that I had a small pile of each item, exactly the same amount. I almost took a picture of it because it just isn't normal lol

@yorkielove83 I do that sometimes too. I used to work at Wal Mart LONG ago in the health and beauty aids section. Every night I had to make sure all the rows were completely even. I can't stand when they are all messed up!
