What are you doing to get pregnant? PNV while I wait for AF to go away

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: I've got nothing this morning. Just mostly unhappy with the terror that is my first post BC cycle and period. I'm ready for it to be done now.

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition? Picking out a tree with H. When we moved into together over four years ago it also involved us moving away from our families, so we got to start all our own traditions and what not. We always take the dog, go pick out a real tree, then spend the night eating Christmas cookies, drinking, and watching Christmas Vacation while we decorate. We both really look forward to it every year now.

    Cycle/Month: 4/4

    CD: 10

What are you doing to get pregnant? I take folic acid and persuade the husband to take DHA and multi-vitamims gummies. And I temp, of course.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: None. I am not much of a symptom spotter, as I don't actually get PMS related symptoms so there isn't much to spot.

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition? I like making a Boxing Day sandwich with all the leftover Christmas dinner goodness.

What are you doing to get pregnant? BBT, prenatals, sex, eating healthy, OPK... the usual.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: I forgot to take my prenatal vitamin yesterday! Fuck! But I've been good at taking my BBT every morning ever since we started TTC. So at least there's that. My FMU OPK was darker today than it was yesterday (both AM and PM tests) so maybe I'm getting closer to O? Maybe? I hope?

Rant time... my hubs says he's feeling too much pressure in the sexing frequency as of late. I mean, we just started BD on Saturday when we decided it was time to TTC. We've BD'd twice - Saturday and Monday - and when I said, "Hey, let's try baby-making tonight!" he told me how he felt. So, the paranoid side of me is like, "Shit! We need to have sex as often as possible! I have watery and EWCM! We need to do this!" But, the rational side of me realizes that my hubs has every right to feel like I'm sucking the romance out of this sex thing by saying things like, "We have to have sex tonight," instead of doing subtle things to turn him on, like what he does with me when he's in the mood. So... we didn't BD yesterday... but, we're finding a middle ground that works with timing, with our mojo, and with romance in mind.

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition? My parents still send me 8 present for Chanukah. I love it, even if people think it's immature and baby-ish. I blame having Only-Child Syndrome.

What are you doing to get pregnant? OPKs, BBT, Check CM, EOD/ED

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: It took an embarrassing amount of self-control not to throw my thermometer across the bedroom this morning when I temped. I think I've somehow psyched myself out and delayed O. If I have my regular LP (13 days), then this will be the longest cycle I've ever had, excluding my pregnancies. I've never had a cycle longer than 30 days, so I'm really curious about what's going on in there. And I'm seriously considering putting the thermometer away and just rolling with it for a couple of months.

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition? Making hot chocolate and driving around to see the Christmas lights in town. :)

  • @cateyes543 - Huge hugs for you! I have only just started TTC, yet I know that if it takes me too long to get KU, I am going to have huge disdain for my cousin's wife... I swear she gets pregnant just by her husband looking at her the right way. They've been married 3 years and are expecting their 3rd. It's effortless with them, and she's obnoxious about it, which makes it worse.

I'm sending warm vibes your way for a great cycle and good luck with the RE!

I love baking Christmas cookies with my mom and sister's and decorating the tree.

What are you doing to get pregnant?: Waiting for AF to pack up and leave.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: Last month/cycle I o'ed later than usual (I think it was stress from hosting Thanksgiving for the first time), and I'm actually oddly grateful for that because my FW would have been mid-late next week - when we are home with my family for Christmas. It will still be partly during the week now, but my likely O days on FF start the day we fly back, so that's a little better - fingers crossed. I was willing to try some covert sexing, until my mom asked if we'd mind sleeping in the guest room instead of my old bedroom (long story). Which is fine, usually not a problem at all. Except the guest room is directly across from my parents, whereas my old room was on the opposite side of the house. I think we'll be ok, just lots of sex when we get back, lol.

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition?
We have a huge open house party on Christmas Eve. Once it's over, lately we clean up and watch A Christmas Story, and go to bed. The party prep makes us all so tired of cooking we don't make a big dinner, we get Chinese food instead, and watch a movie together. (This year it will be Guardians of the Galaxy!) Mom has said this is going to be the last year for the party, though (it will be the 20th year this Christmas). I'm kinda sad, but I get that it's time to start new traditions.

What are you doing to get pregnant?  All the things...

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks:  I thought I was going to ovulate yesterday but this morning my temp only went up ever so slightly...and looking at my past cycles I usually have a drop then a small increase then it spikes up.  So now I'm just waiting to see if tomorrow I have a high temp to indicate possible ovulation today instead.

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition?  My family watches Christmas Vacation on Christmas eve every year while having some drinks and spending time together. This and just spending time with friends and family in general are my favorite traditions.

    CD: 7

What are you doing to get pregnant? nada yet...

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks:  So this is my third month charting, and I'm noticing interesting patterns that don't matter at all... For example, my temperature doesn't really fall until right about now in my cycle. It can be erratic during my period or flat or whatever, but on cd 7 I have a temp spike and then my temp drops to my pre-O levels over the next two days. I think it is cool to see how like clockwork some things are (even if I don't understand the clock fully). Other than that, it is very likely I will ovulate while at home staying with family -- and I'm not sure how I feel about trying to have sex at my dad's house. You can hear everything! We might have to find a motel...

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition? Bah. I'm over Christmas and traditions. My parents split while I was in college and everything has been complicated ever since.
  • @mamasargetobe -- yes, it is the drama that is the issue. Everyone still lives on top of each other except for us, so when we roll into town everyone wants to see us... each of my parents and each of my three siblings, all preferably by themselves. My emotions don't run high, just my stress. Also, for some reason Christmas seems to need to be renegotiated every time. BLAH (I mean bah humbug).

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition?: I honestly don't think I have one. We do different stuff every year lol

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition? It use to be Christmas at my grandparents house with the whole family but it's not the same. Now probably having everyone over for Christmas Day breakfast.

What are you doing to get pregnant?: EOD sex, BBT, PNVs, plenty of water, and I think I'm gonna pick up some OPKs today.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: Last week, FF had given me dotted XHs on CD 12, so naturally, I thought I'd already O'd. But this morning, it took them away and said that I haven't O'd yet...so we're still gonna HIO and see what happens! But it seriously is driving me nuts having such a wonky chart. I suppose that's par for the course the first month off BCP though.

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition?: I think my favorite is watching Christmas Vacation with my family. My uncles and cousins are hilarious and we all just sit there and quote the whole thing. I really just love getting to spend time with my extended family all together.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: I usually have a positive OPK by now but am thinking things may be a little off this cycle due to the CP.  We went ahead and inseminated yesterday on the chance that I would O on my usual day, and due to our donor being unavailable today and tomorrow.  At first, I was really stressing over things, but have decided to just take whatever comes and know that it will work out the way is it supposed to.

  • Yay! I go here now!

Cycle/Month: first AF AL. Not sure how to word this... started TTC in sept, MMC in Nov. Now 5 weeks later I'm finally at CD1! So maybe 1/1 AL??

    CD: 1

What are you doing to get pregnant? Once AF goes away... EOD sex during FW, OPKs, PNVs, daily baby aspirin after finding out I have FVL, trying to BBT

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: just feeling really unsure about everything! After my MMC I requested to be tested for factor v leiden (family hx) found out I'm positive. My OB says I can take baby aspirin for now. I will be getting in to see a high risk OB and a hematologist soon to get tested for some other clotting disorders and see if I will need lovenox during my next pregnancy. Feeling pretty bummed about all of this...

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition? I love baking Christmas cookies with my mom! We are doing it this afternoon :-) we also make toffee for Christmas with my grandma and aunts. We did this a few weeks ago and it's a favorite tradition also! I'm a nurse so I work a lot of the holidays so sometimes I can't enjoy the actual holiday with my family.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: Well, two blazing positive OPKs and all kinds of EWCM yesterday and today. Great, right? But no sex, H has some stomach bug. Just really disheartening. If I O today we will have -3 timing.... not great at all. Last month I don't even think I O'ed at all, so I guess this is an improvement, but it's all for nothing if I can't get laid.

RRCS: wtf chart? I've had repeat temps before but not like this. I'm starting to panic that maybe it's an an ovulating cycle since it looks like nothing is happening with my hormones. O almost always happens on CD 15 so two more days until I know. Anyone know anything about flat temps? I've even been temping twice. Once with my normal bbt and once with my backup. The backup gives me about the same temp so I don't think it's my thermometer. Today it was a bit different on the backup but I recorded the first temp only.

GTKY: foooooooood. And I love baking Christmas cookies :-)

  • @mustloveerica I have practically zero experience charting but my FF said my temps were fluctuating a bunch, and when I clicked the "more info" it says "temperatures can also fluctuate a great deal when you are not ovulating, or when you have cycles with delayed ovulation". So, I feel like your temps being similar every day would be a good thing, not a bad thing. Maybe?

If you know it isn't your thermometer and all other variables are the same, maybe your body is just give you the Christmas present of a pretty chart!
The flat temps made me super happy for a while. I was thinking stability is good! But now I'm getting skeptical.

@mustloveerica-anov cycles tend to have super rocky charts (even with constant times and vag temping). Flat line charts usually indicate a problem with the BBT. CHeck out my chart last month and it is a pretty typical chart for anovs.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: So H and I got over our weekend arguments and had some good make up sex last night. Here's to hoping it continues for the next week! LOL I can dream, I guess. Also, I took my BBT again this morning and it was the same (97.7) as yesterday. I'm having doubts about this generic thermometer, though, and temped again with the one I bought at Walgreen's back when we were just starting to TTC. I didn't use it yesterday because I couldn't find it. This one said 98.1 That seems pretty high. But I guess I should keep in mind I am up and walking around at least 3 times  overnight to take care of DD. I'm going to keep the 97.7 from yesterday but keep using the new thermometer, since it seems to be more accurate. Any insight would be great!!

It would be possible if you had a short surge that started in the evening and was over within 12 hours. I suppose it could also be possible if you drink lots of water and stay very well hydrated, which could dilute the LH concentration.

If I'm using SMU and afternoon is it possible to miss the surge by not testing using FMU?
It would be possible if you had a short surge that started in the evening and was over within 12 hours. I suppose it could also be possible if you drink lots of water and stay very well hydrated, which could dilute the LH concentration.
^^WSS. I was - in the afternoon, then got a + with FMU the next day, and by the time I tested again (same day), it was - again. I drink a lot of water and only get squinters at any TOD other than FMU.

@GypsySoul1112 -- does your BBT got to the thousandths place? I ask because you only listed tenths and mine almost never gives me an even number. I've also only gotten the same temp once or twice. I get things like 97.03 - 97.09 - 97.43 - 97.72 etc. I think I've gotten everything from 97.40 to 97.45, but never the SAME 97.4 whatever twice.

I would keep temping with what you have but recommend getting a Mabis from Amazon if you can (about $10)!
@mamasargetobe, the first temp I got from yesterday only goes to the tenths (97.7). Same thermometer, same temp this morning. The thermometer I got at Walgreens goes to the hundredths (98.10 exactly this morning). I think I might keep using that one. I'll look into the Mabis if my temps don't look quite right. I'm kind of hesitant to switch thermometers because of the variability between brands, but I know I just started yesterday.

  • @chad5285 I have to test at least twice a day to catch my surge, and I use FMU and then 12 hours later. If I am close to a positive, I do FMU, then around 1-2 pm and again about 6 hours later. It can be tricky and everyone is different, but it is easy to miss a surge.

@getzystark I also forgot to temp this morning, as my routine was all funky. Twinsies again!

  • Cycle/Month: 5

    CD: 11

What are you doing to get pregnant? OPKS, & just started BBT

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: This cycle I have been getting positive OPKs for the last 6 days. I googled it and freaked myself out with a PCOS self diagnosis. I have an appointment to go over bloodwork with my OB/GYN on 1/9/15, just want to focus on the holidays & not stress out too much. Being the only one of my friends that is TTC right now I am feeling a little lonely.

GTKY -- What is your favorite holiday tradition? My dad's side of the family has a big Christmas Eve celebration every year. I honestly look forward to it more than Christmas days some years!

@GypsySoul1112, if it were me, I would use the one with the Hundredth's measurement, not the tenth's. I usually get really small variations in temp, so with the Hundredth's, it shows.
Thanks @missdaisy925 and @mamasargetobe!! Yeah, I feel more comfortable with the hundredths place thermometer. Hopefully the next few temps won't be too wacky but I don't really know what to expect. It could either be that the thermometer is off or that I'm just running around all night and not sleeping normally. We shall see! This will probably be my main rant for the rest of the cycle lol.

I know you've looked at my chart before, but here's almost a month of temps -- and what they look like with AT LEAST 1-2 night wakings with DD every day. You can see they are definitely rocky (FF often points this out to me) but you can still see where the average is and I think if I do O, a shift will be noticeable. https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/5526ff/
Agreed @mamasargetobe. I'm just hoping to plot some more temps on FF so I can find some sort of pattern. I don't even know what's normal for me. My chart looks so naked right now! I'm going to go play on there now and put in all the extra notes on specific situations to bulk it up a bit. It's so easy to be consumed by doing it yourself! That's why I kind of liked the RE, because he was telling me exactly what was going on.

Not sure if you have already said this but, do you temp orally or vaginally?

I'm thinking if you temp orally, try to do it vaginally, FF and posters say it will show more consistent temps. Maybe your a mouth breather?

I'm not a chart expert or anything, but I know that pre-O temps can be pretty rocky, but yours are all over the place. Maybe its because you haven't O'd yet?

@missdaisy925 I'm temping vaginally, but that's a great point. I definitely haven't O'd yet, I don't believe. The earliest I've ever O'd was CD 10 without a trigger. When we did the trigger, I tended to O later, around CD 16. So I'm not quite sure when/if I should expect to O this time around, without any meds at all.
