This is very true. I didn't really use FAM to prevent pregnancy, I used it at first to learn what my cycles were like and then I used it to GET pregnant. We always used condoms as backup when we weren't actively trying.

I'll be 6 weeks PP on Thursday.  We haven't done the deed yet but I can't wait, I can't even remember the last time we did it while I was pregnant, it was probably sometime early in the 8th month.  We're planning to use condoms as birth control temporarily as we probably won't try to conceive again until LO is about a year old, if at all.

I posted about this in one of the random threads, but we DTD at 6w PP (C/S) and it was pretty bad. Though I wasn't in the mood, which didn't help. I miss good sex!

@lovebuggies1‌ I didn't have tape, just dissolvable stitches which are still there. Wondering how long it takes for them to dissolve?

kfo22 I used FAM for both TTC and TTA. I used the paper charts from the book, but we now have an iPad, so I'm going to use the FertilityFriend app when we start using FAM again.

I would say FAM is always going to be most effective if you are temping and keeping track of cervical fluid, cervix position and so on. That can help your awareness if you have a wonky cycle. I got pregnant doing FAM because I was so regular and consistent that I would just figure out my ovulation date in advance and either avoid sex or use condoms in the week prior and a few days after to be safe. But uh... Then I marked the wrong O date on my phone, and wasn't actively checking myself for fertility signs. Whoops! Don't be complacent! Important lesson.

This is kind of what we did. Even though I charted for nearly two years before TTC, we used condoms for a large chunk of that (it took me a while to get really comfortable with FAM). We can't use other forms of birth control because I work for a religious institution that will not cover contraception with their insurance policy. When we started TTC, I felt sort of empowered by my knowledge of my cycles even though they weren't regular.

I am 4w pp and my DH is dying to hav sex. He hasn't said anything but I know he is..we had sex pretty often during the pregnancy. I feel bad for him though! He's a trooper and I want to give him that relief! I'm a little nervous because I don't know what to expect. I feel healed down there but will wait until my doc gives it a go at my 6 week check up.

I haven't taken the pill in 6 years ..DH and I have always just used condoms when I was the most fertile. I tracked my cycles on fertility friend bc they are pretty regular and just knew when I was O...it was right and we got pregnant the second month we tried! I definitely want to wait 3 years for baby #2 so we will be super careful!!!

I just had my checkup today (7 wks pp) and my OB recommended I wait 2-4 more weeks because I am tight due to scar tissue from an internal tear. I have been promising DH that it would happen tonight for 3 weeks now... Yea I think I am going to have to at least try tonight.

@lovebuggies1 Had my appt. and my Dr. said I didn't need to keep the tape on and he pulled it off.  Lesson learned.

I'm just too damn tired. My boobs constantly hurt from bf even at 6 weeks so I know I can tolerate the pain, sleep is my real barrier.

Husband had communicated that he is feeling ignored and cutoff from me so I know it needs to happen soon though. It's hard to be everything to both of the guys in my life right now!

So much this. I can't be the caretaker to both H and baby! Not sure why this is so hard to understand for them. Though H has significantly improved with helping out since I hit the 6 week mark....coincidence?

I have been cleared but have not DTD. I'm terrified. We bought condoms the other day, that was a big enough step for me for this week

i go in for my PP 6 week appointment tuesday. i told DH we had to wait till then and I know he is counting down the days...

i wish i could say i'm excited but i'm just not. it's not even the pain i'm that worried about. i only had a 1st degree tear and stopped bleeding weeks ago... i'm just not in the mood. haven't been in a LONG time. pregnancy was rough for me and somewhere along the way i lost my sex drive... hoping i can rally and get back to a sexy place! i know DH needs some luvin.

My ob scheduled my 6 week appointment for 7 weeks lol looks like FI will be waiting an extra week to DTD )

Update: we tried to DTD and it didn't work lol. Too painful. DH was very sweet about it though and we are going to try again in a few days.

I'm so nervous! What is the best lube on the market?! DH and I have never used lube so I don't know what to use!

Dh and I dtd 3 weeks pp. It wasn't planned, wasn't discussed, just bam, it happened in the wee hours of the morning after getting LO back down. It only hurt for a minute in the beggining and then a minute or so at the end. First time in months it's been spontaneous and I've actually been in the mood. I'm not going to lie though, I'm a little stressed we may have messed something up even though I stopped bleeding and hurting down there after 1.5 weeks. I just keep reminding myself that there's a reason they say wait 6 weeks even though the discharge nurse said whenever I'm comfortable to go ahead.
