Made my first two batches of spritz'd butter cookies last night. Today I will make my almond paste so I can make pinoli and rainbow cookies. I also make lace cookies, molasses cookies, gingerbread, coconut macaroons, chocolate crinkle cookies and pfeufferneuse. Sometimes I will make sugar cookies so the little ones can have some fun decorating them. By the weekend I will have cookies coming out of my ears but everyone looks foreward to them so I make them every year.
Feel free to send some to me. I will be making the kind of cookies that you scoop out of a pail or slice off a roll or cut the plastic open and throw on a plate. Ok... who am I kidding... DH will be doing all but the last one. LOL.
I do like to cook and occassionally bake but it's usually carrot cake or banana bread or something along that lines.

Off Mirena Nov 2013, On Nuvaring end of Jan, Back off Sept 2014. Never ending cycle starting end of Sept...
11/14 Provera failed... cycle continues
12/14 High FSH (57 "midcycle") OBGYN had no clue... about anything
01/15 More lab results coming back from RE. U/S showed small (1")cyst on left ovary, thin lining, and couldn't locate right ovary so possibly straight to DE and IVF
Occassionally mess with the chart below to see "what if" and learn (not to make it pretty but because FF stays drunk with me).
Ok so I just found currents in my health food store so now I have to find a recipe to use them. Oh how I love currents. Maybe a nice currant scone. Mmmmmmmm
That's it @hooligans4 you are invited over for dessert tonight. Everybody bring a dish. I'll open the oreos.

My mom does an awesome cranberry relish cookie - kind of looks like a pinwheel with stripes of the cranberry swirling around the butter cookie. super yummy. Someday I'll have the get the recipe and try it out - for now I'm happy to just eat them lol.
I always do a ton of cookies to thank all the volunteers at my job. I love making spritz! I also do cut out sugar cookies, gingerbread, chocolate coconut no bake cookies, raspberry ribbons, peanut brittle, peanut butter snickers cookies, seven layer bars. I usually also do Oreo balls but haven't this year. I also made three chesecakes this week for our work Christmas party...white chocolate raspberry, chocolate chip, and turtle cheesecakes. Mmmm
We just had our cookie swap party on Saturday night so my dining table is covered in cookies. Everyone took some home but there are still SO many left. I made White Chocolate Macadamia, Chocolate Turtle, Chocolate chip, Peppermint Meringues, And "Coal" (Rice crispy treats w/ oreo bits and black food coloring.) I wouldn't have made so many but half the people coming said they couldn't/ don't bake... Then they all showed up with some. It was great fun. And everyone enjoyed LOTS of cookies.
@flyliceandcoffee I'm intrigued by "Grandma Burke's cookies"....What's in them?
@hooligans4 Mmm scones! Or if you want to do a you could take a basic Oatmeal raisin and replace the raisins with the currents... or basic shortbread or butter cookie and add a little orange too... Sorry. You are an obvious baker and probably don't need help figuring out what to do. I just love playing and tweaking recipes. I'm sure whatever you come up with will be delicious!
@Teenie16, I "think" they're similar to sugar cookies? They're a recipe passed down from my husband's grandma hence the "grandma burke's cookies" hahaha. I know it has soured milk in it. and some cinnamon I believe? They look like sugar cookies when they come out of the oven?
I bought cookies from a girl selling them in our neighborhood (frozen cookie dough) I forget what they were called but they had chunks of everything in them, dark chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate. They were pretty amazing. I used to bake but I find that I don't have any free time any more and frozen cookie dough is where I am at, ha ha ha
This thread has got me in a good cookie making mood. Thanks lady's.
@kindershlitz those caramel bars look AMAZING. I'm going to make them if I have time. Thanks for the link.
@Teenie16 I'm always up for suggestions. I actually decided to go with oatmeal base. Great minds think alike. I've been loosing weight all year so I figured I should have a somewhat healthy version of a cookie. But you got me thinking with the shortbread with some orange zest. I will have to give that a try sometime.
@MySallyGirl thanks for reminding me that my husband asked for peanut brittle. I use peanuts for my lace cookies do making the brittle is great to use the leftover nuts.
And you rock making all those things.
@flyliceandcoffee please share grandmas recipe. It sounds so interesting.
I very rarely bake as I have so many other things I'd rather do. The only thing I made this year, with some help, is lefsa. One of my holiday favorites!
Yum! Lefse! My Norwegian husband would be very jealous!
Last weekend, I made peanut butter blossoms, coconut macaroons, Russian tea cakes with caramel kiss inside (yum), turtle, and sugar cookies. I've been trying hard not to eat them all!

I am still in the thick of my cookie baking, I love it! Almond Cherry Cookies, PB Cookies, Molasses and Sour Cream Cookies w/ Cream Cheese Frosting. I also make various breads and muffins.
@dream2be3 These are my favorite! It's a huge batch, but beware you can't half the recipe.
Sour Cream Cookies
2 cups sugar 1 cup butter 1 cup sour cream 2 eggs 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 4 1/2 cups flour
Mix dry and wet ingredients separately (sugar is a wet ingredient) and then blend together. Chill the dough for 1 hour and then roll out and use cookie cutters. Bake @ 350 for 8-10 min.
Cream Cheese Frosting
1/4 cup butter 1 tsp vanilla 3 oz cream cheese 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Use egg beaters or mixer to blend all ingredients.

Grandma Burke's Cookies (don't tell my hubby I shared this...)
Cream together:
1 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
Add 2 eggs
Sift together:
5 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
Soured milk:
Add 1 tbsp vinegar to milk, let sit for a couple minutes.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture, alternating with 1 cup soured milk. Beginning and ending with flour.
Roll out and cut into shapes. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. decorate with your favorite icing recipe.
How much soured milk? Is it one cup.
For anyone who doesn't know, soured milk is just homemade buttermilk.
So if you have buttermilk left from another recite you could use that
I'm going to make these now.
But I won't tell your husband. Lol
