Birth control question

I have been taking the mini pill and need to switch to something else, as I am horrible with remembering to take a pill every day, and I recently got my period back (DD is 13 months). I am trying to decide between Nuva Ring and Mirena. Anyone have experiences taking either of these while BF'ing that they would share? I used Nuva Ring before DD was born and loved how easy it was. My OB said it can affect milk supply, but less likely to if supply is well established, which mine is. My only concern is the possibility of it causing me to dry up. He said Mirena is a lower hormone level and less likely to affect milk supply. IUD's freak me out and I haven't really wanted to go that route, but if it is the best option at this point, I am willing to do it. Any advice or personal experience appreciated!

Re: Birth control question

  • I got the nexplanon implant in my arm for both LO while bfing and love it! I've had a great supply with both and no periods while on it. Mirena freaked me out because I didn't want to mess with my uterus before having another kid. Nuvaring is not good for bfing because it has estrogen.

  •  I got a diaphragm. No hormones, cheap and reversible immediatly (just don't use it if ttc).

I used it for a decade before ttc my new dd.
  • I had mirena after DS2 and plan on getting it with my next AF. I loved it! Also it did not have an effect on supply and I successfully EBF until he was 9 months.
