How do you clean your Wubbanub?

You can't exactly throw them in a pot of boiling water (can you...?) or pop them in a sterilation bag. I've been washing the pacifier part with soap and hot water - which generally ends with a wet stuffed animal. I am occasionally tossing mine in the washer/dryer but I doubt that is sterilizing it. Since there seem to be several mamas that use them - how are you getting yours clean?

  • We use the washer/dryer. I've also scrubbed the paci part with soap and a sponge if it looks really bad.

  • I honestly rarely worry about sanitizing stuff, hot soapy water is good enough most of the time IMO.

If you are really wanting it truly sanitized, you could use Star-San. DH uses it for sanitizing his beer-brewing stuff, it's food-safe sanitizer.

    Lol! Too funny.

I'm usually not crazy about sanitizing stuff but we all just got over colds and I am trying to prevent us from passing it back and forth again. Fun. Also, wouldn't mind sanitizing when I find them in the backyard, in the dog beds, etc. Apparently they look like fun dog toys!

Someone needs to make the same thing with a detachable pacifier. Million dollar idea.

  • @scarlet3egonias‌ Brilliant idea! The paci should totally be detachable. Our young pup actually stole it out of the cosleeper once... good times :)
  • Our pup is known as the "binkie bandit" in our house....she is obsessed with them. We've already lost several because of her.
  • The box's instructions said to throw in washer in a small laundry bag. I forget if the instructions said more than that...
  • What about holding the body of the wubbanub with tongs and inserting the paci part in boiling water for couple minutes? I'm considering doing this.

We have had wubbies as they are known in our house for both DD1 and the newest addition. I just throw them in the washer and dryer and soap and water the paci portion as needed.

@scarlet3egonias‌ and @Carebella‌ We also have something very similar to a wubbie that is detachable. It is supposed to be universal for any paci. My mom found it at a boutique this summer while on vacation. Ours is a hippo but she also bought a turtle for my brother and sil. I don't know the name of it. We just laid down for a nap so I'll post the name and try to attach a pic after nap.

  • Thank you @wallygirl‌!! Someone posted about Paci Plushies on the other thread today and these appear to be exactly that!

  • I found these at Meijer (only in the Midwest) but other places might sell them but they are great because the paci detaches and I could attach the paci from the hospital which LO is partial to. Bright Stars brand called Cozy Coos

I'm just going to come out and admit this since I can't be the only one...

I wipe it on my pants then stick it in my mouth. Mom sanitizing.

i read an article that talked about how putting it in your mouth actually helps the baby build immunity so I do it all the time with no guilt now
