Cloth Diapering

FTM plannig cloth diapering..pls advice

Hi there it's my first post on this board...I am a first time mother and I am planning cloth diapering...I read the FAQ it was good but I still have questions.
I bought AIO CD...what else do I need to buy? do I really need to buy extra inserts? and what are the prefolds?
I am sorry if these questions sound stupid but I have no experience concerning the matter

I'm on mobile and in the FAQ, the Cloth 101 link appears but not the other one. You should be able to search for them in YouTube. I'm newer to CD too and it definitely helped to see them IRL. For me, it was at BRU and consignment stores since there is not a nearby CD store. Have fun!

ETA the BG FT you bought are my favorite! My understanding though besides them not fitting a NB is you may not want to buy all the same kind until you know what works on your baby.

I'm a FTM too, and based on what I've read I've been building a pretty diverse stash of AIO/AI2s. Each brand fits differently, so It can really depend on your baby's body type. I really like the idea of being able to use a cover multiple times and just changing the insert (unless it's all messy) that the AI2s & hybrids offer. But, I may hate them when the baby comes, you never know.

I also plan on starting with disposibles because I'm nervous he will be huge! If he's small enough then I'll work on getting a nb stash once he's born I guess.

  • If you did only freetimes, no you wouldn't need any extra inserts or anything. They are ready to use after one wash. And go on in one piece.

They will be bulky for a while though, even after they "fit", just to forewarn ya.

  • My daughter was a pretty average baby - 7lbs 14 oz & didn't start wearing any of her one size until 2-3 months old.

Even a "huge" baby has skinny NB legs and would only fit in NB diapers
