Remember the post a few months back about the utterly nasty elementals that were sold on CL? 

Well.  I just bought 9 workhorses from a local mom who posted pictures of EEUC workhorses, no stinks, no stains, used in a large rotations for a few months.  Blah blah. 

I got them....disgusting.  I was about to just chuck them but I decided to try and get them clean.  This is what I've done. 

1.  Charlie's Oxy Bleach 12 hour soak, followed by regular wash, extra rinse and dried under the UV lights.  Still horrifically stained. 

2.  Charlies' Oxy Bleach 12 hour soak with double the bleach.  Followed by a strip with vinegar and baking soda.  Dried under the UV lamps.  Still stained. 

3.  Blue Dawn Strip, followed by treating with lemon juice, time under the UV lamp and a regular wash and extra rinse. 

4.  Pre treat with with oxy clean, followed by bleach soak and then regular wash. 

I don't know how this shit happens to diapers.  I mean, she must have just dried in the stains every single time and not cared.  I don't even know.  I can't bring myself to use them even though I know we've literally bleach the SHITE out of them.

Oh dude, she is nowhere to be found and I just can't deal with the Paypal crap right now.  I lost $35 bucks.  Oh well.  I can't even donate these.  So gross.  Between these and the grovia ones I got a few weeks ago that were utterly trashed, I'm just done with buying anything used right now.  Clearly I'm not a good judge of these things.

I looked at the pictures.  She must have posted pictures from when she first got them, because they are not the dipes I received.

Fyi oxy is only good for like the first thirty minutes or so after its mixed with water and then the active ingredient is all used up. That's sucks.

That's just not cool, for her to misrepresent what she was selling like that.

I seem to remember one of the pre-treatment pastes that someone mixed up worked pretty well, but I can't remember which one.

For future reference, if anyone else decides to buy used, the recommendation is to request a photo with a date (current date) in the picture to prove the person actually has the diapers they are selling and that they are currently in the condition photographed.

I think the trade board here is trustable though, at least in my experience.

2. What detergent are you using. I recently bought a lot of very well used gdiapers including inserts at a $1 a pop, because, cheap hemp. They were quite stained and dingy, being used on twins for years and washed every third day, so they even sat longer between washes. One had clearly been otb post-blueberries. I bleach soaked, rinsed the crap (sic) out of them, then just figured they were clean enough and put them in rotation. About a month later, the difference between them and my new-bought inserts is diminishing. They've lightened significantly just being through my normal was routine, nothing extra.

I think what happened is she used some weakling detergent, which you can get away with on city water in SF, and she was washing every 3 days. The city I'm in now has crap water, so I've gone back to Tide, and washing for two means I'm using a lot and washing every other day, sometimes more. They've been through my routine at least 20 times now, and they're getting harder to tell apart from my other inserts. 

So maybe, if you're not skeeved out by adding them to your current dirties, you might want to just try letting them go through your diaper wash for a week or two to see if they continue to lighten.

Sorry, that sucks! But PayPal is super easy to dispute!!! Definitely don't let her get away with that.

That is such a good tip!  I would have never thought about that.  Thanks for sharing.

ABC- I would dispute it w/ Paypal in a heartbeat.  Take pics just in case.

Have you tried sun bleaching? That does wonders for mine even on a winter day if it's sunny.

There is no sun here right now.   And I know people say sunning works even without the sun, its just not my experience.  I have set them under a high powered UV lamp in our indoor garden, for HOURS.  Nothing.  I did file a dispute, waiting to see what she says.
