Trendy, Classic, In Between?

I hear these words thrown around here a lot but I'm no expert at categorizing names. We've been talking names since we started TTC about a year ago. My FI hasn't wavered once on his top name. He is willing to compromise (especially because I want to name a baby boy after my grandpa) but I can tell that he is very stuck on his favorite name. He wants to use Alexander, he told me that he never really thought about it that much, he just knew that he wanted to name his son Alexander since forever, apparently. I want to give him this if we get the chance but Alexander is a top ten name. I don't know any babies named Alexander (I do know an Alexandria and an Alex) but I know that it is popular. What do you think? Too popular, popular but still usable, trendy? Where does Alexander fall?

Nowhere near trendy! Alexander is great a really great name. I agree it is a popular classic.

Thank you for the input so far, ladies. I like Alexander but I didn't want the name nerds of the world to cringe and think, "Another Alexander? -eyeroll-" when hearing my son's name.

Alexander is a classic name. I don't know any, nor do I really pay attention to popularity of names.

Popular but usable. It's classic and you can't go wrong with a classic name.

Yes Alexander is popular, but also timeless. Trendy is basically referring to "shooting star" names, which are only popular for a few years, but the kid is stuck with it for a lifetime. That's why if it's trendy, it should also be classic, meaning the baby won't have a stupid name at fifty years old.
