TTC after 35

New dx - frustrated

Sorry I haven't been on here much lately. About a month ago I got a dx that I have Androgenic Alopecia - basically male pattern baldness. All of my internet time has been spent googling and learning about it. Net-net there is a drug that will help stop hairloss but I can't take it while pregnant or breastfeeding. I wanted to speed up our visit with the RE but DH is still stuck on trying for six months before we go. I've been in contact with my nurse at the RE office and she said the elevated androgens would definitely affect my fertility. Some of the initial testing I did showed an AFC of 13 so they don't think I have PCOS. I had also gone in for day 3 labs but they screwed up and I have to redo. I'll be out of town cd3 so we'll have to wait til next cycle. That'll put us a month before our six month mark so I guess it all works out. Hoping I won't need that of course. While my chart is hideous we did have good timing this cycle.

Re: New dx - frustrated

  • FX for you! What a frustrating Dx. Are there safer alternatives to treat this while TTC? Like Acupuncture or a homeopathic remedy that would be safe to try now?
  • Ugh, I'm sorry for the dx :( I have my FX for you!
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and all you've been through. I have a friend who was diagnosed with alopecia and while it's been difficult for her, she opted to go the route of a wig so she wouldn't have to take the medications for alopecia. Since her diagnosis, she has been blessed with 2 beautiful daughters (twins) and is to this day still bf-ing. All this to say that you are not alone! I can find out more info from her and pass it along if you'd like?
