For those of you who have had their first pp period, how many weeks pp were you and was it a normal period?
I'm almost 8 weeks pp and I thought I was starting my period a couple weeks ago but it was a false alarm. I don't remember my pp periods from my other kids.
Re: pp period?
Following
Average for breastfeeding moms (who EBF at least 6mo and only do solids in addition to BM during the first year) is around 14mo, I think. ...runs to verify statistic
Why did I have to be in the 7% :-??
--------------------
I have a real answer.
The frequency with which a baby nurses is what keeps fertility at bay. Nature made it that way, so that you wouldn't conceive and grow another baby while your body needs to focus energy on nourishing this one. So it's not the amount of milk removed from the breasts, but the frequency of nursing (and thus, frequency of prolactin release) that is important.
A small percentage of women are just less sensitive to those hormones. Their bodies think they're rock stars that can handle caring for and feeding a very young baby while pregnant. A friend of mine's mother discovered she was pregnant 8 weeks postpartum after delivering and EBFing her TWINS!! It just happens that way sometimes.
ETA: Wanted to add blushing emoji, but it won't let me.
My periods used to be pretty much like clockwork and last about 4 days and were pretty light, I'm not quite sure what's going on now but I'd like it to end soon.
