When is the earliest you've given/would give this to your LO's. O will be 20 months on Monday and we're debating it for a Christmas gift. He loves the ipad and our phones. We were also thinking about our connecting flight for the holidays and thinking the leap pad would be nice to have for travel.
MIL and FIL got the leap pad for dd for Christmas. It's the disney princess one, I know she will like it. I'm not going to let her play on it all day or anything.

It's a girl!!! (:
Madison arrived on May 19th at 6:35 am (:
Personally I am not a fan of tablets for LOs. I haven't bought my 3yr old one yet.

I got her an innotab for Christmas along with some age appropriate games. She loves our phones and isn't allowed to play with them, but I think the educational games are just that...educational. By no means will she be on it all day or even everyday. She's also in dc M-F so she'll only see it on weekends mostly. She's obsessed with pictures so I'm excited to let her play with something without me worrying that she'll put embarrassing pics of me on fb. Lol
3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13
R is happy with an old phone of DHs that we put kid games on. We would do a tablet when he can start to know letters and numbers so it is educational. That being said we probably won't get him one till next christmas.
We use our ipad and do like the fisher price apps with our LO. He loves it and you should see him how into it looking at the letters/numbers and hell say some of the pictures. I think its good for that but no I would not buy him in his own i pad and he uses it with us and for only a short period of time.
Thanks all. I'm more interested in whether he'll 'get it' at this age or if it's too early. I don't worry myself with the screen time. If he enjoys it (within reason) it's okay with us.

@emmy236 - O is learning letters and numbers on our ipad right now with a sesame Street app... it's so fun. We can't say 'one' without him saying two, three....
Emmett isn't huge into technology right now. When he does play with our phones, all he wants to do is push the home button over and over, so he doesn't stay on an app for more than a second.
I figured that I wont be getting him one until he asks for it. IMO, he'll enjoy other toys just as much right now, so I'd rather get him those.
We're "those parents" and we only allow LO to play with open-ended play toys where he has to use his imagination. He has not once touched a phone or a tablet, and we won't allow him to have computer/tablet time (for educational purposes only) until he starts preschool. He also doesn't get more than an hour total of tv time per day. I've told grandparents that tech toys are blacklisted and we will exchange them for blocks and books if we are given them. The only "tech" heavy toys he has in Alphapup and Scout, and even though those are growing on me, I wasn't happy when they arrived in my house. So I guess TL;DR, if a Leap pad came in this house, it would be closer to him starting school, and he would be limited, since he would have to choose how he wanted to spend his allotted screen time: TV or Leap Pad.
