I would rather sacrifice my own health then to stop breastfeeding. Not because it's best for baby but because i don't want to deal with engorgment or trying to wean her onto a bottle. It just seems like a lot of work...
I have nothing against formula, DS was on formula, however the formula he was on due to allergies he just always seemed like he didn't feel well.
On a similar theme, I don't always follow all the breastmilk storage rules. I've refrozen a couple of times and pumped into a half-full bottle of chilled milk more than that.

Me too. If it smells and tastes fine, it's good enough.
I let LO sleep attached to my boob last night because it was the only way I could get any sleep at all. The second he popped off he would start screaming.
I think you read my mind. LO has rashes that won't go away and I'm terrified that when we go back to the dr today he's going to say I need to cut soy in addition to dairy. Weaning seems like a lot of work. Also, fighting with my insurance to get them to cover alimentum seems even worse. So I'm over here thinking, "meh, I could survive on rice."
I have been living on chicken nuggets and spaghetti for the past 2 weeks.
We bathe the baby in the garage sink. We don't park cars in there and it is partially carpeted and has heat and a/c. But still...it is the garage. But one of our tubs is deep and the other is a two person jacuzzi tub....and the kitchen sink doesn't fit his bath chair.
Yep...I'm the one w the kid who gets all excited when we go out to the garage because he thinks he is having a bath!
I have no intention of doing anything at work today. Business is incredibly slow, and I just got a notification that my boss signed on to facebook Zynga poker.

This always seems to be my Friday confession and today is no exception. I've been bumping and Christmas shopping since I got here at 7:45.
I didn't know you were supposed to use special water for formula. Surely, I can't be the only one..?
Special water? How special can water get? We use filtered water out of a pitcher but we used that for our drinking water pre baby.
Apparently you're supposed to boil it or buy special filtered bottle water at the store...
We buy the gallon of water that has been "special filtered". I wouldn't have known to do that if it weren't for my mom. Not sure what special filtration it goes through, she just told me to get it.
I know there is a lot of no nos and articles about babies and TVs, but I put LO in his swing and turn on Mickey Mouse Club and baby development channel quite often. With H's weird schedule it really helps me get things done in the house, like cooking and cleaning without him screaming and wanting to be held. LO takes his longest naps during the day at daycare and cat naps while at home. MIL tells me it's for the colors, so I just go with that. Although he does love some red tractor that comes on the baby channel though, he babbles to it.

So at what point do you determine that regular tap water is good enough for baby?
I understand if it smells funny but if it is normal, why not have just regular water?

Not a clue. I just go with it. It wasn't anything I questioned or looked up. I think tap water tastes funny here anyways, guess we could go with that... ? Lol.

Ours tastes funny too but our filter takes it out :-)
I legitimately asked DH to look up scurvy symptoms the other day. He laughed at me. This sick season is doing a number on my nerves. I'm trying to contain my irrational FTM anxieties but it's so hard!
TTC #1 since August 2011 w/ unexplained IF
09/12-11/13: 3 TIs, 3 IUIs, ICSI/PGS IVF & 2 FETs
08/14: Our little miracle has FINALLY arrived - 3 years after we started trying!
I mix her formula with water out of the tap. She's fine. *Shrug*
FFFC: I think people go way overboard with safety and babies. Obviously some changes have been for the better, like carseats, but most of the stuff I'm like, meh, she's fine. Like her paci.. if it falls to the ground at home I just rinse it off in hot water.

This. They have to build their immune systems somehow.
I let LO sleep attached to my boob last night because it was the only way I could get any sleep at all. The second he popped off he would start screaming.
I bring LO to our bed every night when she wakes up around 4-5am. I let her feed so I can rest for atleast another hour or so. I know I'm not rolling over on her so I'm not worried about it. She loves sleeping in mommy's and daddy's bed.
I've started doing this too. She's gets very restless around 4am, and if I don't bring her in bed with me then we basically wake up at 4am. In bed with me she usually settles down and snuggles up and sleeps. I don't sleep great with her in bed, but it's better than no sleep at all!

I don't even rinse it off. I suck it once then give it back. MOTY over here.

Thank God, I was starting to feel like the worst mom ever. I washed her pacifiers in the dishwasher once, and have just rinsed them since. I don't boil anything (pump parts, booties, etc), just wash it all with soap and water and call it good. I WANT her to be exposed to a little bit of germiness under my controlled circumstances, so when she inevitably comes into contact with these environmental germs later, they don't knock her on her ass.
The only positive thing I told myself while LO was sick was that she's building up her immune system.
If you have City water, that is water that is regulated by the government to be safe to drink. Of course, the pipes coming into your home may have contamination, but you could always get the City to come out and test your water. Most cases they will do it for free.
Bottled water, however, is not regulated in any way by the FDA or anything. Just an FYI.... I'm sure a lot of the bottled water is safe to drink of course, but just remember that tap water (from City Water), is safe to drink for sure. Now, if you have a well, I can't tell you what to do.
FFFC: I just thought about it and we haven't DTD but ONE time in 2014. DH feels weird about it with Zoe in the room, and I did not feel good through most of my pregnancy.. so...
Okay, I feel like I must have sounded like a safety nut when I said i did use the jugs of water. I don't sanitize anything. I do use the jugs of water out of the baby section only because I was told to, I never did any research or anything, it was kind of like a shrug whatever scenario. I wash LOs bottles with hot soapy water and I wash off his paci with hot water when it falls. I never even sanitized my pump when I was using it, I just washed it with hot water and soap too. Andplusalso, my kid goes to daycare, there always something going on there.
I should probably look for a new pedi. He's great as far as the medical side of things (shots, growth, rashes general check ups etc.) but when it comes to asking for advice like when to introduce foods or tips for when LO is teething, sleep regressing or growth spurts he doesn't help me much.
That's what I have you ladies for riiiight?? Lol
But seriously my H teases that they don't have hippies working there, which is what he thinks I want haha
I rarely rinse off DDs paci when it falls at home. I use bottled water to mix formula. I don't drink the city water so I'm not going to make DD drink it. The TV is on all day long. I try to keep her back to it.
I also rarely answer the door unless DH is home. It's usually his family and I don't feel like we have anything to talk about so they can come back when DH gets home. I blame it on the baby sleeping when he asks me about it.

We are in no way ready to have another baby, and I know I would have panic attacks if I did get pregnant, but I still miss it.
I must be a masochist or something.

I boil water - enough to last me the day. I was told to avoid tap water in case of bacteria in the pipes or the tap itself.
At 4 months, I'll start to give him filtered tap water.
