I was reading what the top names of the 1880s were.
These are a few of the ones that didn't survive like Mary or Katherine.
Nellie/Nell
Hattie
Blanche
Effie
Sallie/Sally
Lottie
Nannie
Birdie
Winifred/Winnie
Flossie
Do you see a comeback for any of these names?
Side note, I noticed "ie" endings were pretty trendy!
Re: Could these names make a come back?
Hattie - making a come back!
Blanche - possible
Effie - maybe
Sallie/Sally - it could, still not very popular
Lottie - definitely as a nickname for Charlotte
Nannie - no.
Birdie - I hope not.
Winifred/Winnie - I could see it happening
Flossie - definitely not
I would use Harriet with the NN Hattie
Besides that I am not really a fan of any of them.

I feel like I know a ton of Katherines/ Catherines (that are children and babies).
I personally know one baby named Mary, and it was on my list when I was pregnant with DD.
I love Sally as a NN for Sarah, and I sort of dig Blanche.

Hattie-- yes. Similar to Hadley
Blanche-- probably not soon. Blythe though, yes.
Effie-- probably. Similar to Ella/Ellie...etc. Also, HG
Sallie/Sally-- I don't think so
Lottie-- don't think ao
Nannie--no
Birdie-- maybe
Winifred/Winnie-- I wouldn't be too surprised
Flossie-- I kind of hope so!
There's also the singer Nelly Furtado.
Hattie - I think this one is already making its way up the charts
Blanche - doubtful, but it's kind of cute
Effie - maybe due to the character in the Hunger Games series
Sallie/Sally - I feel like this is one of those names that so many dogs have that idk how many humans will keep using it LOL! That's how I am with it anyway that and Lacy
Lottie - I can see it - it seems like it has the structure for popularity
Nannie - doubtful
Birdie - doubtful
Winifred/Winnie - Jimmy Fallon's first kid is Winnie - so I can see it gaining some popularity, I really like it but H doesn't
Flossy - doubtful
I love some of these names!
First pg, DH and I loved Charlotte (nn Lottie). The nn first came from "Phantom of the Opera."
I don't like that Charlotte is so popular now (lots of friend's kids named this) but still love this classic name.
