Re: First lock of hair

  • To be fair- I didn't actually know it wa a thing until we took B to his first haircut. The lady there asked if this was his first haircut and when I said yes, she replied with- " ok- I'll save some of his hair for you". Ummm thanks? It's in a little ziplock in his baby book.

  • I plan to, but he won't get a haircut until he's 2.
(Even though he could use one now) I like to keep him looking like a 'baby' for as long as possible.

  • We have some hair from Grayson's first haircut.  It's in a tiny little baggie stapled to the certificate he got.  It's around the house somewhere lol I'll get it in the baby book eventually.

  • Trying to keep my pack rat tendencies in check and seeing how many of you do this, I might have to start saving MORE!!!

  • I voted yes, it's around here somewhere, but that's not entirely accurate--I know exactly where it is. We had his first haircut done at Disney recently, and they put his lock of hair in a bag with some "pixie dust" and gave us a set of mouse ears and a little certificate. They are all in our bedroom until I can figure out where I want to put them.
  • Nope. Didn't keep any. I think that's weird. Just like keeping the umbilical cord. I just don't get it....

I thought the umbilical cord was kind of gross too, but I don't feel the same way about the hair.
  • I have a lock of hair from Rian and Jameson. I have also kept Rians baby teeth as they fall out. I tape them to a piece of paper with a little story about how/where she lost it. Age and date as well :/. Y'all probably think I'm nuts lol.

I also have a little box of all my baby teeth that my mom kept for me.

  • I don't think keeping first lock of hair, first tooth *or teeth* I like the idea @riansmommie does with a story, date, and age. I have kept my kids stump, and perhaps even grosser, their circ. Bell.

I've also got their first "Ouch" bandaid, among other things.

  • I'm pretty sure it's jammed in the bottom of a purse somewhere, it'll probably reappear at some inopportune time...

I didn't save the stump and there wasn't anything to save from the circ. We got a "tooth album" from someone as a gift.  It has what looks like a giant birth control package to put all the different teeth in and then there's a page for each tooth where you can write the date, story of how they lost it, and put in a picture. Teeth gross me out, but this at least makes it cute and organized so I don't crap my pants when I open a drawer full of teeth.
