When It Rains It Pours

Which is ironic considering my hating on all the "Stormageddon" nonsense.

DS woke up today and I realized he has a cold and has had it for the last few days.  I felt like MOTY just now realizing that the sneezing, runny nose, bad attitude, and crappy napping was all related and that, duh, he was sick.  So I am hoping DH and I don't catch it, and that DS is over it before his sister is born.

I was exhausted today, but I really needed to hit the grocery store before I went into labor and I wanted to get stuff to make potato cheese soup and freeze it.  Also needed to deposit my monthly check from DH.  Went to leave for the grocery store and realized my debit card wasn't in my wallet.  I had it yesterday; I used it to pay for lunch out with DS.  I remember carrying it in my hand to my car, because I was carrying DS in my other arm.  DH and I searched high and low, and it is nowhere to be found.  So, no grocery store, no deposit, and now I have to go to the bank tomorrow and get it replaced for the second time this year.  Gaaaaah.

DH very nicely offered to take us out for dinner instead of having me cook because I was tired and DS was a handful today, so we went to Sweet Tomatoes.  DH had gone to get soup, and I was eating my salad, and I look up to see DS toppling over his chair onto the floor.  No biggie, I figure as I go to pick up up, he falls off stuff all the time - until I see the blood gushing out of a good, deep gash on his forehead.  He's screaming, I'm trying to put pressure on the gash and stop the bleeding with my napkins and asking the very non-concerned employees if they had a first aid kit, and DH is strolling over like nothing.  I was like, we need to go to the ER now.  He was like, well, we should wait for the first aid kit to get gauze.  I said, I have gauze in my travel first aid kit, it is taking them forever, we need to go now.  But he thinks we should stay and wait because we did ask for it, so I walked out with my bleeding, screaming kid and he had the good sense to follow me.  Long story short, we got into the ER right away and since it was a clean cut, they just had to irrigate it and close it up with surgical glue.  They let us go home on the promise to watch him closely for the next three hours for concussion symptoms, so DS just went to bed.  He acts like nothing ever even happened, which is great, but for Pete's sake...really?  All this stuff now?  And of course I feel even more like MOTY for not paying more attention to my kid or going to sit next to him while DH got his stupid soup.  And dinner for me ended up being pretzels and fudge.  Nice and healthy.

I really was trying to make today no drama after the freak-out I had yesterday.  I would just go to bed, but our crib showed up just after we got home from the hospital, so DH insisted on setting it up tonight.  Aaaaaaand...scene.  :-<

  • I am sorry about your day! But I am really curious.......what is your monthly check from dh?

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013.  We love her to pieces.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011.  She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

DH and I have seperate checking accounts.  We also have a joint account, but I never access it.  It works out better for us.  But, after I started SAH and wasn't pulling in any money to cover my financial responsibilities (groceries, baby supplies, etc), DH just started writing me a checks out of our joint account to put into my personal account for each month.

It sounds kind of ridiculous, but it works for us.

Lol.  Whatever works :)  Everything we own is joint so I had no idea what it meant :)
