Pregnant after a Loss

tmi and worried

Hi, I haven't been on here in awhile and I need some help.
The TMI:  My underwear are super wet - in a watery wet way, not sticky, clumby or colored or whitish.
I'm having some flashbacks to my 21 week loss because along with my previa I had some kind of abruption and my amniotic fluid was too low for baby at my 21 week scan.
I am 17 weeks 5 days and my panties have been getting visibly wet and uncomfortable since yesterday - after.... I fell.  I fell but landed on my hands and knees not my belly at all.  I was in heels on a work appt stepped off an old Victorian porch step wrong and boom.   1 hour later - wet panties, I thought maybe it was sweat?...  I didn't sweat at all today, I did my desk job work and panties are wet again.
I called my OB who said amniotic fluid isn't typically a slow leak and I would need a towel if it was amniotic fluid.  I have my anatomy scan next week on 12/19 and he said I should be ok til then.

MY PGAL brain is going wild.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I am very surprised your OB didn't ask you to come in for a swab. I'm under the assumption you can have a small leak. I had low fluid with DD and made mention a few times about wetness but the OB chalked it up as me peeing myself.

    Edit for clarity

  • Thanks for your response.  How did things end up with DD?

  • Perfectly healthy and wen full term! I would call again tomorrow if it happens again and just see of they will do a swab. It's a simple check and an instant answer to whether it's fluid or not.

  • I agree with @BIRCH113. I would go in to the ER. I would rather be safe and I would rather find out sooner that I had nothing to worry about. ((Hugs))

  • I'm sorry you're dealing with this (((hugs))) Honestly I wouldn't settle for that response from my doctor.  I'd request (kindly but really demand) to be seen to calm yourself down.  Waiting anxiously for a week is awful.  If not by your doctor then the ER.  I hope everything is ok & I'm sending positive vibes your way.

  • I'm just a few weeks ahead of you and I've had a lot of discharge lately too. I think it's just a hormonal thing, but your doctor would know for sure.

  • I've had a fair amount of discharge, too, but nothing that soaks underwear. Have you tried the sniff test? I agree with PP that if it seemed excessive I would go to some doc, regardless of which one.

  • I'm sorry to hear.! Sending positive thoughts your way!. As others have said I would maybe call back and asked to be seen or go to the er. It would give you some peace of mind. ♡♡♡
  • I am going to call again if they're wet again tomorrow.  I changed when I got home and I've been on "recliner rest" with my feet up since I got home (checking myself constantly of course) and it's nowhere what it was like at work...   I'll keep you all updated and thanks for your support!  It's comforting to know that I'm not alone in my reaction to this.
  • Fxd for you. (((Hugs))) PGAL brain sucks!

  • I had an amniotic fluid leak with my daughter, later in my pregnancy but none the less they do happen. I'd call your doctor back and insist that they swab to determine if it's fluid or just normal pregnancy discharge. My understanding is that even if it is a leak they can resolve themselves. Better to me safe. Good luck!
  • I have no experience with this. I'd like to offer hugs. Any updates?

  • Hi, so woke up this morning and things were normal.  Went to work and noticed on the way home at 4 that my leggings were pretty moist and underwear are damp... hmm. wth?  so, I call OB and their office is closed.  I did the sniff test and it smells like nothing.
Ok am I sweating even though I'm not aware that I'm hot or sweating anywhere else?  Is it just normal discharge and I'm being a freak out of fear and paranoia?
I'm afraid to go to the ER because the health insurance I'm on sucks and has a $2500 deductible - I don't know what that applies to or for but DH will be home soon and we are calling insurance to ask.

I think the ER will be like "Really lady?" but oh well.  I need reassurance and my OB doesn't do u/s.  My A/S feels too far away unless I dry up real quick.  I switched pants and undies and I'm officially on my recliner with my feet up again.
  • No experience but praying and thinking of you!
