Well my LO was diagnosed with severe GERD right before thanksgiving. the recommendations was to add 1 tsp/1 scoop of formula to every bottle she gets. this thickens the formula just slightly making it hard to escape her leaking esophageal sphincter. we also increased her reflux med to twice a day. her pedi decided to put her on nebulizer treatments to 1) help break up all the congestion she has from the GERD and 2) help decrease the chance of bronchial spasms (asthma) from the cough related to the GERD.
Well today was our 10 day check up. LO was getting better last week but was "relapsing" this week - cough and snotty nose. Turns out she has a nasty ear infection, eye infection, sinus infection on top of an adenovirus (which she was kind enough to share with both myself and DH). So we are starting another round of a stronger antibiotic to combat the infections she has. It is amazing how happy this kid is even though she has some raging infections!! The ear infection was only noticed on exam, she never gave me any indication she was having any ear issues except not really wanting her bottles but with the snot in her nose I don't blame her.
The good news, she seems to be spitting up less!!
Here is to hoping that we will eventually get all of this under control and she will stop being a "mouth breather"!!
