February 2013 Moms

Am I the only crazy one?

Thinking about birthday parties already? <:-P I can't believe these kids are going to be 2! Didn't they just pop out our va jay jays? Stop growing up. Stop it!

Have you given it any thought? Little dude is obsessed with the flippin' Bubble Guppies. Like that's all we watch. I have all the songs memorized. And he loves Mister Grump fish for some reason ;) So I think we're going that route. Probably doing a small party (family and his friends from DC) at our place.

Re: Am I the only crazy one?

  • I have been thinking about it but I honestly have no clue what we're doing yet. If we would have anything it would only be immediate family invited (grandparents, aunts and uncles, great grandparents). That's what we did last year too. Problem is, our house is too small to even host that many people, so we'd have to either rent out a place or have it at a family member's house, and I feel bad asking someone else to host. I have no idea what we'll end up doing.

  • I had to think about it because I had to request my Saturdays off at the library for the entire first quarter of 2015 by today, so we had to pick a date for it already. ;-)

Since DD is obsessed with Muppets/Doozers/Fraggles, we're going to do a Jim Henson themed party, of course. I'm not really sure how to execute this beyond the cake and maybe find a way to build some Doozer constructions? (Do they make clear/translucent K'nex??). But this year it will be at our house and just immediate family and godparents most likely. So I don't want to go overboard on the theme. Also, definitely doing Wegman's catering again. It was relatively inexpensive and way easier than making everything myself!

  • We are just doing cake and ice cream with grandparents and aunts. Last year we threw a giant Alice in One-derland tea party. I am not doing big parties every year, I was just so pumped for 1!!!

Andplusalso, I will be 38 weeks pregnant at DD's birthday this year. So...Just no big party :)

  • Already thinking about it too, but DS2 is an earlier birthday (Jan 18th) so it's coming up quickly!  I want to do just something low key but hate having a lot of people in my house because it's small - sooo, not sure what to do yet....

  • I've thought about it a bit, just because it will probably coincide with DD's blessing.  In fact, we'll probably do a joint party for both.  They are both too young to know the difference, and it will help out family and friends who are planning on traveling for one or the other or both.

Last year I made cupcakes and frosting from scratch and put out hors d'oerves; this year we will probably buy a cake and some ice cream, maybe buy some Costco sandwiches, and call it a day.

  • I think we will just go to Monkey Bizness and have free play for all kids and then a small 30 min party in the party room.

  • We did a Bubble Guppies party last year :) Last year we did a bigger party at the house, but had it catered, lots of family and friends, etc. This year I think we will just have close family over for dinner, maybe ill cook or do easy take out. Maybe ill make it Thomas themed..havent gotten that far yet. Im the worst.

  • Not going to think about this until after the holidays.  I applaud you who are thinking about it, and side-eye you with annoyed eyes and the same time.  :)

  • I was the president of "Team Bigass First Birthday Parties" last year, so of course I have thought about it! :D DS' favorite book has been "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle for quite some time, so that's going to be the theme.

  • Not only have I already planned DD's second birthday party but I've already made the favors and collected some decor.

We didn't do a party for the first birthday. I couldn't host it at our tiny ass apartment. And I wasn't willing to do a destination party just for family.

Now we're in a house with a huge back yard and DD has a couple of friends (who's moms are my friends) I can invite.

  • I love the Bubble Guppies compared to Peppa Pig.  We know all the PP episodes and occasionally there is a BG I have not seen.  If only she would always request BGs instead of PP.

And poor M...no party...we just don't have enough friends or family near us.  Maybe some cake, although no one in our family should eat it.
  • Crazy train pulling into the station... It's a Crayola theme party, decorations bought, favors bought, food planned, making the invites now.

My edd is jan 28 and DDs bday is feb 5 so planning ahead is required. We're probably nuts to have a party but we don't want her to miss out bc of baby.

  • We are trying to decide on a theme. He likes Chuggington, but I am not sure if he likes it enough to make his party about it.
  • I have decided on a transportation theme (cars, trucks, trains, etc).  I've pinned stuff to my Pinterest board and have hired someone to make the cake.  That's it.  I'll take care of the rest after Christmas and *hopefully* when I get my energy back after this 1st trimester crap.

  • I haven't thought about DS#2's party yet because DS#1 has a birthday in January before my Feb baby and I normally transition from Christmas to his birthday as soon as I am done Xmas shopping or there wouldn't be a party.

What are bubble guppies? Is that bad that I don't know?!

Bubble guppies is on nick jr. It is probably the most tolerable toddler show. I do find peppa pig amusing though, especially Miss Rabbit. And thanks to you mentioning your older son, I now think DS has a theme of frozen. ;)
