Last night I put a stick of butter in the microwave and it blew up. (like, blew. the F UP!) This is (stupidly) the second time I've done this in the past 2 weeks, and I was having a day yesterday and didn't feel like dealing with it. Now I'm starving, but can't really reheat anything because the microwave is still a mess, but I don't feel like cleaning it out.

That's the worst! Microwave a mug of water and let it steam up. Hopefully it will be easy to wipe out.
We got Nancy a sound machine. It's a pink lady bug with wings. It projects stars onto the ceiling and plays like 4 different sonce. It plays for 30 minutes and then shuts off.
It is N O T Cloud B. Anyone have any clue in the world what in the hell this thing is? I want to get a similar one for Cal because Nancy still uses hers every single day, but she's loved the tag off of hers and there's no brand on it.

Country Crock, yo. It's always nice and soft. Like my college boyfriend, it never gets hard.

I don't think there's anything wrong with judging as long as you keep it to yourself. I'm a judger. It's how I process and perceive things. I observe, consider, then decide if what I saw was a wise course of action or not. The judging part is applying it to my own life, not others'.
Like if I saw someone giving their kid chocolate milk t 1 year, I would see that, think, "huh, that's a lot of unneeded sugar and that kid's going to get used to that and maybe not like regular milk. Seems like a bad idea, I wouldn't want to deal with the repercussions. For my own life, I'll pass." But I won't say shit to the person doing it. I might say something to DH like "I saw this and thought it was a bad idea," but that's as far as it'd going.
I'm worried my MIl is setting up my little BIL for some serious disappointment. She's been painting a puppies and rainbows picture of what his life is going to be like now that he's a 17 year old dad. She keeps telling him how easy and wonderful it will be because they have so much support. And while there are some really wonderfully and amazing things about being a parent, it is still VERY hard. Add to that being 17 and not done with HS yet, it's going to be even harder. He just has no clue what the future is going to be like.

This is my BIL and new SIL although they're older and know they're expecting buy they still have no clue what's coming because everyone keeps blowing smoke up their asses. They don't have jobs, they live off their GI Bill benefits and are barley scraping by. You have to be actively enrolled in school and doing well to collect. So their plan is to go to school full time with no plan for childcare and hope for the best? Someone needs to shove a dose of reality down their throats.
Nancy didn't start really belly laughing until she was around 6-7mo old. I remember coming home after reading about other babies on TB doing it and asking DH what was wrong with her that she didn't want to laugh.
Cal has been belly laughing for almost 2 weeks. It is completely hysterical. Honestly, it's the absolute highlight of my day because 90% of the time, it's Nancy who's making him do it by getting in his face, licking him (it's a phase) and shaking her hair in his face. He thinks it's the funniest thing of all time and he laughs and shrieks. I can't believe I was so worried about having 2 of them, or that he was a boy.
Pregnancy really makes me an idiot. Thank God that'll never happen again.

I have the worst stomach and forgein sounds are coming from it. It can only lead to a very quick trip to the bathroom. Ugh.
I had this happen 2 weeks ago when we were at a hotel too. DH was going to the bathroom and I told him to get out as I was literally unbuttoning my pants. He was taking his sweet time when I literally shoved him out of the way. Thankfully I made it in time. I've never had that close of a call. His response "Oh I guess you really did have to go!" Ya think?

I hope it's a phase. Aedan has been licking me. It's gross.

That is hysterical. My stomach has been upset all week with the bubbling and gurgling. The stomach virus is going around here so I have been on high alert.

Ugh. DH had a stomach thing going on about 3-4 weeks ago. Then I had that 2 weeks ago and now my stomach is out of control. Hope you stay healthy.
I am a judger. Mainly carseat safety, and people giving their babies soda in their bottles. But I do it silently, unless it is a friend of mine, who I will mention the car seat issue to. I know there will be things I do as a parent other people will judge me for.
I always seem to encounter the people who will actually judge my parenting out loud. It really pisses me off.
I think it's inappropriate that my brother lets my 9yo old nephew have soda every day as a "treat." I can't imagine putting soda in a bottle!
God damnit I just accidentally accepted the FB friend request of the daughter of the woman in my office that I am constantly butting heads with. I saw the name "Nicole middlename" and thought it was another girl I am friends with under a new account because she's a serial deleter.
Her daughter works at the kids' daycare, and actually seems fairly well adjusted despite her BSC mother.
I kind of want to use her as a sitter, but that would be a really bad idea, right?
@MarisaKathleen it's a pretty common sight in New Zealand. It makes me so sad. There's such a huge rate of child tooth decay and childhood obesity here.
There's also a pretty high rate of child poverty here, kids going to school with no lunches and without having breakfast (we don't have cafeteria lunches here, unless you're in a private school). Teachers are bringing loaves of bread and jars of peanut butter to school to feed the kids. I have a friend who teaches at a really low-income school, classed as a decile one, and she said she bakes muffins every night, and makes sandwiches so she knows her kids will at least have eaten something that day.
I have so many feels about this. All of them sad.
I just don't understand it. Is soda cheaper than water or something? I don't drink soda unless there's booze in it, so I've never understood the appeal of just drinking a soda. The one unhealthy habit I never adopted...GO ME!
I tried to recall it and failed, so I just wrote back and apologized profusely. I walked away from my office and then came back, finished the sentence and hit sent before bothering to actually read it.
In all fairness, you applied TODAY and want to start on 1/16 when we're closed from 12/19-1/5? And you want to use financial aid? Yea, you probably shouldn't contact me.

Maybe it will be the thing that puts you both at ease with each other. I won't say make you friends, but at least not enemies. We use our favorite teachers from daycare as our sitters and I'm friends with some of them on IG. I was worried that it would tarnish my image of them but they are very tame.
Oh - hey guys. Life sucks here lately. Work sucks. I have been lucky if I get home in time to tuck L in every night. Congress just put through another short CR so life will be even more hectic next week. I hate the end of the quarter.
Home is okay. We got a tree, I haven't had time to put lights on it or decorate it. I haven't made the calendars I do for my family every year yet. I don't know if I will have time. My family will be so sad if I don't do them. They are a fantastic present, but I feel obligated to do them every year now.

I will drink ALL of the soda. But my kids can't have any. It's so bad for them. But good for me. It helps my mental health.
I had this exact conversation today, but about sugary cereal. I won't eat my Captain Crunch or Cocoa Puffs while Aria is awake. It's a treat for me anyway, but I don't want her thinking there's an alternative to her honey-nut cheerios (mixed with multigrain cheerios).
Soda in a bottle??? And I thought juice in a bottle was bad. I am perfectly ok with my consumption of diet soda, but my kids will not touch it for a really really long time. I also drink coffee and wine, but they won't be partaking in that either.
And @melsax - the idea of so many kids going hungry breaks my heart. Most schools around here have free lunch for families that can't afford it. My sister is a teacher here though and keeps extra snacks in her room for those kids that she knows aren't getting food at home.
B has accidently had a sip of my mom soda (we call it pop here) 2x. It was on the counter and he went for it. He took a sip, had a sour look on his face and said "EEww gross" both times.
We also have a lunch program for free meals. All of the children we help through our YAP (Youth Assistance Program) that I am a board member of need to have this in order to qualify for our funds. It's for low income families. Both amazing programs.
A couple of weeks ago, a guy wanted to donate his wife's dead body to the university for research. Uhh, we don't do that sort of thing here.
Today, a guy who was very angry about Start Up NY and all of the economic development programs spending his tax dollars to boost the local economy and stimulate growth of small businesses.
Why should they get to be tax-free when he's paying taxes so that they have roads to go to and from work?

Crazy.
Haha I can tell you where all of the donated body institutions are!
Oh my gawd if someone comes in my office I will be totally busted for this fart. AHHHHH that vendor tried to come in and I picked up the phone and acted like I was on a phone call.
I farted in the living room when DH was at Target last night, and he came into the kitchen 20 minutes later and asked if I farted. "> TOXIC man.
