TTC After a Loss

A little ttcalr: when to worry about a fever when your temp Is naturally low.

This might not be very coherent. 4 am, fever, mobile.
So right now my temp is 99.4. Yesterday I started feeling uncomfortable and feverish and when I checked my temp I was only a bit over 98. See, temp before O is usually in the 96.5 range and after O it rarely goes above 97.5.
I know,,, medical advise and all but in case anyone knows the answer...
Given that my temps run low generally, do I need to worry about a fever sooner than those the are "normal" or is it pretty much everyone needs to worry at the same number?
I know it's advise I should get from my dr, but everytime I've been feverish and been to the dr, I've been brushed off because medically I was not running a fever, even when I explained it.
Anyway, I hope that was coherent enough.

  • My temp runs low also. I feel feverish and yucky at "only" 99 also. I don't usually see a dr unless I present other symptoms though for much the same reason as you. I do take a fever reducer and get lots of rests and fluids since I know my body is fighting something!

I hope you feel better soon! Big hugs!

  • I echo @skategirl128's advice.  I also run low, so if I'm in high 98's I start to feel yucky.  I also take some Tylenol and push fluids and hope that it goes away.  I wouldn't go to the doctor unless I had other symptoms or it was higher.  I hope you feel better soon. ((((HUGS)))

  • I also feel poopy at 99 and I also never go to the Dr because they say the same thing to me, it's not a fever  :|

I hope you feel better soon!
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • So it spiked to over 101 a couple of hours ago.  I manged to bring it down with cold wet towels on my head and it's hovering back in the 99 range.
I usually start feeling feverish at 98, so you can imagine how that goes over at the doctors.
Other than feeling weak, the only secondary symptom I have is food aversion.  I ate yesterday morning and then didn't get hungry the rest of the day.  I ate again at 8 pm when I was having acid problems I assume from not having eaten.  I had to force myself at that point. The way I feel right now, it wouldn't surprise me if I get another spike soon.  I hope this ends quickly.  Too much to do before the holidays and I was really hoping to do a deep house cleaning while my husband was gone.  Of course this sucks even more because he is not here!

    :(
    Thanks ladies!

  • Boo! I have a low average as well. Talked to a Dr. once and they said it could be because of low adrenal and low thyroid function. I did a blood draw and my thyroid is functioning well according to blood work, but Dr. said blood work doesn't show the nuances of thyroid function. They suggested I supplement with iodine. It has helped me feel less cold. Maybe you could look into something like that just for general knowledge.

Sorry you're feeling sick. Drink lots and lots and lots of fluids!

From what I understand, it's not your own normal basal temp that determines when to worry, so your worry point won't be different than anyone else. The 'worry point' being at over 100 is because with sustained time at that temperature, damage to brain and body tissue can occur, that would be the same for anyone regardless of how high or low your body normally runs. If you're able to keep your temp lower with cooling techniques/medication, then there's no additional worry based on your temp. Hope you feel better soon!
