Holiday card vent

so I sent out our family holiday cards announcing we are having a baby boy. I did this two days ago and I know for sure a few people got them. I just expected more people to text, call or email mail me commenting on it. I guess it's not something my family or friends do.

I had something similar happen with my wedding invites. I was so excited to hear back from people & didn't. Finally when I did it was my husbands cousin being a complete bitch because our wedding invite said adults only. Talk about bursting my bubble.
People suck and are very self involved. End of story.
Be happy for yourself and congrats on the baby boy!!

I just went through this, but specifically my MIL. She knows I designed and printed them and knew how excited I was to send them out. The woman who texts me the birth of her friend's daughter's baby while I was going through fertility struggles and what to wear for HER family picture card (which she's never done before this year) can't manage to text me she got the card.

Clearly this has been an issue I can't let go haha

I bet you'd get a bunch of congrats if you were to put it up on social media. These days, easy is the way to go. Sorry you're disappointed in the lack of replies.

This is generally why people don't announce these things with formal cards and things. You might have had a different responsive of it was just a pg announcement but revealing the sex of your baby interests less people than you'd think. It seems really AW-y to want people to congratulate you on your kid having a penis. I'm also guessing lots of those people looked at the card and didn't read it. Or haven't even opened it yet. It's the holidays people have lots of stuff going on.

I just sent out a gender revealish Christmas card. At least now I know not to be offended when people don't say anything lol

@NariaDreaming‌ I know that feeling, hugs and kisses, that's why I didn't announce on FB bc I know a few of my friends are going through it and I'm sure others are as well. And bc of that I just sent to aunts and uncles who are no longer in the business of baby making. I had to actually delete fb bc of it (which ended up being a good thing for my wellbeing overall)

If you expected people to immediately respond back to you then maybe you should have told then in person or called them.

I wouldn't think to call, text or email someone after getting a card in the mail. Those close to me would tell me by phone or text. The rest would send out a mass mailing, which is what you did.

I have 2 Christmas cards sitting on my table that I haven't even opened yet.  It's only been 2 days.

We "announced" on our Christmas cards but just because it's a cute fun family picture with DD holding up the it's a girl sign. Most of our close friends and family already know and I didn't expect calls or texts saying they received the card. Like PP said, the sex of our baby is not that big of a deal to anyone but us.
