Nervous to feed.......

Hi ladies! My LO is almost 9 months old with 2 bottom teeth and teething. Well this morning she bit me twice, once on each side. I yelped and sat her down for a few minutes. Needless to say I am so nervous when I am feeding her now.... I'm so afraid she is going to bite me again. I think it may get worse when she gets the two top teeth. I don't want to stop nursing before 1 year because we worked so hard to get where we are today. Any advice??

I'll retype what I posted below:

I noticed DD only bites me when I'm doing other things during her nursing time and not checking in with her. I don't sit down to nurse without a teether (she loves Sophie) and when I feel her easing up on her 'suck', I stop, unlatch and hand her the teether. When she gets bored with it, she'll return to nursing. I haven't gotten a bite in weeks now.

dealt w/ this a few weeks ago. believe it or not my son's first toot started coming in a month ago!

it's still a tiny thing, but it hurts like a bitch when he bites.

I would pop him off immediately, say "no biting" (I know he doesn't understand), and wait a moment before putting him back on. he sometimes got me so hard I would have to flat out end the nursing session or switch to the other side if he hadn't had it yet.

I guess he got the message loud and clear b/c he hasn't bitten me in weeks.

but I agree w/ previous posters, pay close attention to your girl while nursing. you can almost always anticipate when she'll bite. I always kept my finger close to my son's mouth, ready to break the latch at the first sign.

Hang in there momma- I know the teeth are scary. My LO got her first tooth at 4 months and at 18 months now has 12.  I won't lie- there were definitely some nips- but I got better at recognizing when they were going to happen and it was almost always at the end of a nursing session, when let down wasn't happening and/or she was getting full. I learned to watch her closely for signs of being done (like no more swallowing/starting to smile and fidget and move around) and I'd unlatch her. I'd offer her the other side like normal, but keep a close eye. I haven't been bitten in quite some time now either.
