Restless sleeper

So..past few days K has been constantly tossing and turning in his sleep. He also wakes himself up with all the tossing and turning and then can't get himself back down to sleep, up again every 2- 3 hours from the 6-7 hours he used to be able to sleep non-stop. He of course is also extra clingy when he is up at night so that is another whole story! I just need to know, is that normal to happen at 10 months? Is sleep regression expected every now and then? Anyone else experiencing this sudden change in sleep pattern? He is like this regardless of where he is sleeping, in his crib, in bed with me etc. so I dont think it is a factor of separation anxiety.

I was suspecting it was teething like before but he does not seem irritated or hungry or anything - just not sleeping calmly like he used to and seems just constantly waking up through the night. I am not even going to talk about me not getting any sleep as right now I am more concerned he is not getting enough rest. I would think he needs at least 4-5 hours of good deep sleep at the minimum at a time but he seems to be sleeping 2 hours max before he is up for like 30 mins! I just need to know if this is expected once in a while or if I should bring it up with his pedi? Anyone experience anything similar?

Re: Restless sleeper

  • We have been dealing with this, too. She has become a super restless sleeper. She moves so much it's like she is doing laps in her crib (while sort of asleep) at night. She usually ends up waking herself up when she gets to an edge or a corner, but is finally starting to figure out what's going on to the point that she'll wake up and cry for maybe 15-20 seconds, and put herself back to sleep.

  • We've been dealing with this too, but I'm pretty sure it's teeth in my case.
  • Thanks all- I think it looks like its still expected that they will have disturbed sleep patterns! I just hope it passes soon.

    One tired mamma!
  • Yes for about a month. She's more clingy at night and during the day with this going on. I'm not sure what it was before, but she's for sure teething now as I saw the little white dot last Sunday and her first tooth is almost through her gum now.

  • Just an update K has has fever since Wednesday night. Go figure! Knew something was not right. He has has low grade fever, took him to the Pedi yesterday. Everything checked out ok so they think he is probably trying to fight some infection off. Poor baby. I just hope the fever goes away today!!
