anyone else dealing with hyperemesis?

I'm 18+2 weeks pregnant and still struggling with throwing up 3-4 times daily. Prepregnancy I was 128 and I'm down to 119. Haven't gained a single pound. I've been hospitalized three times for dehydration and still my "doctor" (nurse practitioner) doesn't take my vomiting seriously. I feel so guilty about not gaining and fear that my child isn't growing properly. Please has anyone else dealt with this and have found some kind of relief? I'm desperate at this point!

Re: anyone else dealing with hyperemesis?

  • @courtneylowell‌ since zofran didn't work they refuse to let me try anything else. My anatomy scan is on the 18th so once I know he\she is okay I'm switching doctors immediately! I had a miscarriage just weeks before this surprise pregnancy so I tried to get to an obgyn asap to make sure I didn't lose this one. At six weeks I was referred to FOUR different offices. I didn't get seen till 15weeks. Its been a tough road
  • I lost 26 pounds to date and started the pregnancy at 135.
Never officially been diagnosed with HG, but yeah, that's what it is. I take 12 diclectin and 8mg of zofran a day - not that it really does much for me at this point.

I hope you find some relief (or a new doctor) soon.

  • Thanks @Nita2603‌ I can deal with throwing up everyday as long as I know it's not really affecting the baby. Bright side, since Im even smaller now I can feel so much movement. It helps reassure me he\shes alright❤

I had to switch from Zofran to phenegran, which helped so much. Zofran never worked for me and made me super constipated. I don't have HG but for a while I would just cry because I could not stop throwing up. I cannot imagine still dealing with it at this point, I really hope you start feeling better and find a new doctor. Throwing up is so exhausting!!!
  • Zofran didn't work for me but promethazine has made a big difference. I still throw up but most days only once. It does make you very tired tho..,
  • I'm 17w4d with twins and still nauseous all day. I haven't thrown up in two days but I don't think zofran is working anymore. I see my doctor today and I'm hoping to try something else. I have only lost three pounds since pregnancy began but I am having two so I worry about that.
  • I will be 17 weeks tomorrow and I am down 15lbs from prepregnancy. I am on anti-nausea meds, but they don't help with the no appetite that I feel, they just help with the nausea and vomiting. My babe is doing just fine and is growing right on track.

  • I am 16+5days and have HG, hospitalized 3 times so far. If found a mix of zofran and Reglan has helped tremendously and am hoping to be medicated fluffy soon!
I hope you find relief and maybe a mixture of better meds soon!
  • I suffered from it up until about 14/15 weeks.  They put me on zofran which helped alot.  It has been much better recently though and I haven't had to take my zofran for awhile now.  I'm sorry you are still feeling so bad.  I hope it lets up soon.

  • I'm 18 weeks and still down ten pounds. I take 8mg of zofran twice a day and Diclegis twice, but I can't say it really helps. I was worried about not getting the calories or nutrients I need so the doctor is having me drink Ensure when I can. I've been lucky to be able to keep most fluids down just have a problem with food.

The worry about the baby and stress of not being able to do much around the house, or anywhere for that matter, has been emotionally tolling. I've had terrible anxiety about it. I'm now having one or two decent days a week so I'm trying to really cherish those. It also, feels like most people don't get it and tell me "I should be over ms by now." Not helpful! Sorry you are going through this and I hope you start to have more decent days!!

I have it. Mine is finally subsiding a little. I have lost. 32 lbs to date since about 5 weeks. It will get manageable. But you just have to worry about you right now. This is your time to be desperate, selfish, whatever you need to do, whether it be ask loved ones for help (housecleaning, making you food, etc) or switching doctors- just do it. Don't think twice about your decision when it comes to caring for yourself during this time.

It's been very VERY emotional for me. Feelings of extreme guilt, as this is my second and I should have somehow known this one would be worse, depression even. You have to rely on others right now and just take it easy and do what you can. Good luck. I won't "cracker" you and tell you that you just need to eat crackers, drink ginger ale, or suck a lemon lol. People do that to HG women and it's secretly obnoxious even though they mean well. This too shall pass.

I can't stand it when people say "oh well you just need something in your stomach, try to eat." It frustrates me. My fiancé works 6pm-8am and I work two jobs, all my family is in California and we currently live in Michigan so I have to be self Dependant and its been so hard. Thank god I'm halfway there!
