2nd Trimester

nuchal fold test results???

I just got my results back today and was told I was not at high risk for downs or T18. I am curious if my numbers are low after looking at other peoples on the internet. I am 31 and have 1 in 3,600 chance for downs and 1 in 10,000 chance for T18 and the fold measured 1.3.  Please let me know what your results were and if you think this is low for my age.

Re: nuchal fold test results???

  • It sounds about right.  I didn't get exact odds, but the baby's fold measured at 1.6 and dr. said that was within normal range (I believe you want it to be under 3).

  • I had similar measurements for all 3 of mine (1.0, 1.1, 1.1).  I'm 32.

I think each lab uses different measurements.  With my 1st, I had it done at one place that told me 1:1,200 was the "best" result and not to worry.  Well, then I started seeing people getting 1:10,000 odds and I was wondering WTH??

With my 2nd and 3rd, I had it done somewhere else and got the 1:10,000 reading, again, telling me those are the "best".

My friend had it done at another place and got 1:1,000 and they told her that was the "best" result.

So, I don't think comparing your odds is valid since I think different places use different values.

  • I found this table on google:

    40 1/109
    41 1/85

  • My measurement was 1.0, but the Quad Screen came back 1 in 62. I'm 30. We didn't do amnio and are hoping for the best.
  • After the first round of bloodwork and the ultrasound mine was 1:18,000 for downs and 1:32,000 for trisomy.  After the second round of bloodwork refined the numbers mine was 1:100,000 for both.  I thinkI remember them saying that anything over 1:250 is considered low risk.

  • I am 37 and my measurement was .98 and the Dr said under 2 is normal.
  • Sounds right.  DD's fold was 1.5 and this one measured 1.6.  Odds with DD were over 1 in 5k for each (I was 35) and with this on, it's 1 in 3300+ for DS and over 1 in 5k+ for trisomy.  Sounds like you are in great territory!!!

  • 1.3 is very normal....you should have your age related risks along with your ultrasound adjusted risk on your results paper.... 1.0 is the lowest there should technically be, 3.5 is definitely abnormal (its above the 99th percentile)....depending on how far along you are, somewhere closer to 3.0 is going to start being above the 95th percentile.....

  • I was low risk for everything- 1 in 10,000 and I am 27 and this is my first baby.
