I realized I forgot to actually answer last week - so making sure I do this week
1. I loved probably 50% of all classes I took. Favorites were Microeconomics, Business Law and Art History.
2. I love going on the trails - not really hiking as the kids get tired easily but more on flat ground. I would like to try cross country skiing, something I haven't done since childhood.
1. Best class I took in college was called "Philosophy of the Mind." It was about whether there is more to what we call "the mind" than the actual physical mechanics of the brain.
2. Thinking about college just now has made me miss rowing. I was either on a crew team or coaching for about 10 years. I haven't been able to do it for a long time (it's been about 8 years now). I want to get back into it soon.
1. Best Class - Business Law. Professor took us on a trip to his tailor to learn how to dress a man for court and included pointers on how to spot a man with money based on his clothes.
2. Outdoor activity - NONE. Outdoors is where the bears and bugs live, no need to mess with that. I do like to sit in my bay window sill and read. I like to be near nature just not in it.
1. Best class you took in college? 2. Favorite your (alone or with family) outdoor activities?
1. This is a tough one because I didn't really enjoy pharmacy college...probably calculus and matrices in pre-pharmacy.
2. Long distance running (alone) or family bike rides (with kids in bike carrier). I also love hiking/snowshoeing with DH but we rarely do it now with kids.
1. the new york semester on contemporary art- we went into nyc most weeks to go to museums and galleries and do studio visits with artists (i was an art major). i also really enjoyed a class on chinese cinema- basically the history of china as told through its films. it was a really interesting way to learn history.
1. My favorites were a social psychology class and an american literature (mid-20th century) class. Coincidentally, the semester I took social psych was when Sept. 11 happened, so we had a lot of relevant material to discuss due to that event.
2. I'm not really an out-doorsy person, but I do enjoy going to the beach or walking on the bike/walking trail that goes through my town. (I would also second a PP's outdoor activity of outlet shopping. )
1. I loved several of my undergrad classes - Judeo/Christian Traditions or Holocaust Literature were probably my favorites because the professor (the same one) was so awesome.
2. Snowboarding, hiking, kayaking (still water), boating. I really want to try SUP. Maybe next summer.
1. Greek history - the prof was excellent. Also any art and architecture history classes I took ( I was an econ major who secretly wanted to be an art major). 2. Hiking, exploring the awesome Oregon coast and mushroom hunting in the woods.
1. I didn't take very many "fun" classes but I really liked my statics class/professor
2. Hanging out in our backyard (when we had one). When it's nice outside we'll eat dinner and stay out there almost every evening. Looking forward to having one again in our new house.
1. Consumer Behavior. I looooove learning about how or why people do/buy things. I also really liked my Market Research class.
2. playing softball. Although, this summer we visited a group of friends at a campground a couple of times over the summer and they all just sat around between all the campers and drank all day. Sign. Me. Up!
1. Criminal Law - even though I knew I never wanted to practice in that area, the cases were the most interesting to read and study. I took every criminal law class offered.
1. Best class you took in college? Torts (not law school) All the sociology classes...took like 3-4, loved them all.
2. Favorite your (alone or with family) outdoor activities? Reading a book on the beach, alone. Too bad I'm nowhere near the beach anymore And of course camping!
1. So many of you sound like you had classes and professors you loved I'm jealous and feeling like a bum! I went to a very big school with big classes and didn't have very strong relationships with my teachers - it was all kind of a means to an end.
It wasn't a class, but preparing the research papers for my Masters was probably my favorite part of college.
2. I'm probably a mid-level outdoors person - no hardcore hiking, skiing or team sports but love talking LO for walks, going to the beach, swimming, etc.
1. Best class you took in college? Best in undergrad was Bioethics. I was not a bio major, but had an interest in the area, so I found this fascinating without getting to deep in the weeds of biology. Grad school was an independent study on portfolio management. Quant analysis on specific stock characteristics over the course of 13 years, and which stats produced the best results. Lots of spreadsheets. Loved it! 2. Favorite your (alone or with family) outdoor activities? A walk on the beach early in the morning, alone. With family, a walk just after a summer storm wearing rain boots, so we can stomp in the puddles.
1. It's hard for me to look way back from here and pick a favorite class, because if I had it to do all over again, I'd do it very differently and take completely different classes. I was a government major and took a lot of somewhat related classes on the sociology of crime and criminal law, but none of that has been at all useful now. What I really should have taken was computer programming.
2. You wouldn't know it to look at my fat@ss, but I am SOOO outdoorsy. We camp, and hike, and bike, and canoe. I also love the water - boating, swimming, sitting on the pier with a cocktail. (my husband's not such a fan of water though). This winter I'd like to take up snowshoeing or crosscountry skiing. Next year we're hiking Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, and DH wants to learn to hunt. We have this dream of bugging out to a cabin the middle of nowhere and raising crops and livestock and living off the grid. Hahahaha.
1. I really liked my Physical Anthropology courses.
2. I rowed in college, and for a few years after, but other than that, I'm not into the outdoors. This glass I spotted while out shopping pretty much sums it up.
I rowed in college too And coached high school for a while. My husband is putting together and erg for our home use right now.
I didn't like many of my classes and disliked most of my professors. But I did like Latin, Philosophy of Literature, and Statistics. I also loved Land Finance and Transfer in law school. If only I could figure out how to combine all of those into something lucrative.
I like to do all kinds of things outdoors except hike, walk, rockclimb, and garden. Running, ATVing, snowmobiling, daydreaming, swimming, snorkeling, drinking, driving, swinging, soccer-ing, picnicking, ziplining... I couldn't pick a favorite.
I liked my Advanced Optimization class. Professor was really good and I like thinking about maximizing profit or minimizing cost.
I'm not an outdoor girl... but I like the beach and recently we've started doing family bike rides.
Was this a managerial accounting or an operations class?
It was actually an upper level Industrial Engineering class... so more operations focused. It is what turned me on to the idea of working in Oil and Gas.
