Hello! And 1 year tears.... Inquiry :)

Hello all! I don't make it on here much these days but had some down time tonight after our first "snow/ice day" and a day off from school :) I've enjoyed catching up and reading! I loved the Santa pics thread!
Anyway...maybe this is a silly question... But I figured this is a safe place to ask as we're all in the same boat... But Is it normal to be sad about my lo's one year birthday already?!! It's 2 months out and I'm already a weepy mess! I had some pretty bad anxiety- post partum stuff right after LO and I'm afraid it's coming back (not post partum stuff obviously but anxiety) should I talk to my doctor ?? Normal?? Am I crazy? I just love being a mom to this little guy! I have always loved babies and toddlers - was in early childcare through college- but to be honest, I'm terrified of older children.
Lol not really- because I am a teacher but I just can't picture myself with a child older than this age. I'm so so sad this stage is coming to an end :( advice and thoughts welcome - and yes just tell me that I'm crazy if you think that's it :)

  • I definitely think it's normal to have mixed feelings about your baby growing up. I cried on DS's 1st birthday - partly because I was sad that he wasn't my tiny baby anymore, and partly because I was so happy to get to be his mommy and be celebrating such a big milestone with him. I still feel the same with most of his big milestones. Sad because he's growing up, and happy because he's growing up ;) I also love the baby/toddler stage, but each new stage has been so much fun in its own way. You have so much to look forward to with your little guy!

  • I think it's normal to be upset about the littles getting big. I get sad when I think about it but I'm starting to get excited to see him walk and to hear his little voice when he's talking and what he'll grow to be.

  • I'm pretty sure it's normal. I cried in the middle of toys r us on J1's 8th birthday. >:D<

  • As people said it is normal, however don't ignore your gut. If you think the anxiety is overwhelming and hard to handle, don't hesitate to speak to someone. We all deal with things differently and with varied degrees of emotion so what maybe emotional for me may not feel that hard to someone else.
