Too early to start baby registry?

I'm only 4 months and my hubby and I decided to wait until the birth to find out the sex. I've read to do it 2 months before the planned baby shower but I want to give people a heads up what we are going to want/need. Plus I don't want to wait till the last min. This will be our first

I did our Target one mostly online.  We finished it in store yesterday after we found out the sex.  Next weekend we will do our buy buy baby one and I'll change them as needed.

Not really. It's better to get it done sooner than to procrastinate.

I have done mine in case anyone wants to get something for the holidays ...also I plan to edit it as we go and as needed.

You can always start now and then keep adding/changing when you see something else you would like. DH and I registered in person and then when my pregnancy insomnia kicked in, I added things when I couldn't sleep at night

I always say, the earlier the better! One less thing to stress about when you're 9 mo pregnant

I have mine halfway done, just need to find out the sex before I finish it. We are asking for strictly baby things for Christmas so we did ours early on.

We plan on doing ours when the stores are less crazy after the holidays, but I think I'd be doing it now if I weren't afraid to set foot in Target and Babies R Us at the moment.

One thing to keep in mind about doing them early, is that some of the stuff might not be available by the time of your shower. Things are frequently discontinued, put on clearance, ect. Most people buy immediately before the shower. With DD, I did mine at 4-5 months, had my shower at 8 months, and there were probably a dozen things that were no longer available by then.

Related question: does anyone know when the "model year" starts for things like carseats and strollers?  We plan on going to a store and playing with carseats and strollers and think maybe we should wait until the new models are out, but I don't know when that will be.

I started a registry at Bru for this"baby# 2" not because I expect anyone to buy from it, but because you get double the rewards points on registry items, even if you purchase them yourself...and I believe they give you a percentage discount once you have reached your due date...and have fun, it's the perfect time to start browsing all of the fun baby items and start a registry.

I started mine last month, and will finish it up later this month once DH and I find out the sex.

My shower is pretty early (in just over a month), so we're finishing up the registry this week.  It's not like your friends and family will care when you started it, so I say to get started when you feel like it.  Just keep up with anything that goes out of stock or isn't available anymore.
