Plugged Duct Help

I'm still breastfeeding my 14 month old daughter. Recently she's transitioned herself to her own bed in our room. She is doing great! I, however, am not. I have my second plugged duct in a week. I'm trying to sleep on my back and I nurse when she wakes up, which is once or twice a night. Does anyone have any other tips or advice that might help? Thanks in advance.

Re: Plugged Duct Help

  • taking lecithin supplements helped me- you can take them up to 4x a day. it supposedly helps break up fat globules in the milk, which makes you less prone to clogs. massage, using heat (heating pad, warm compresses, or taking hot baths), and dangle feeding all help some too. if the clog gets really bad, you can use an electric toothbrush or vibrator to help break up the clog (sounds weird, but it works).

  • I get plugged ducts just because I'm blessed!  Lecithin and hot packs or a hot shower.  Take the lecithin until you have gone like 2 weeks with no plugged ducts then gradually go down.
