Here's a new one, cop potentially fired for not using enough force

https://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/12/calif-cop-may-be-fired-for-giving-suicidal-student-water-instead-of-tasing-him/

Basically, there was a suicidal student on campus. First cop there gets him calmed and sitting. Three city cops arrive and while the first cop went to get the student a glass of water, tasered the student. When he came back and refused to also taser the poor kid, he got suspended without pay and is potentially getting fired.

The only thing I see missing from this article is what happened while the first cop was out of the room that resulted in three cops tasering a student who was calm initially. I can't cut and paste the while thing because I'm on mobile. I think it's absurd.

  • I need a lot more information here lol

  • I cannot imagine what would have happened while he was gone, that the kid had already been tasered and needed to be tasered again. If the kid was dangerous enough to need tapering when the officer came back, wouldn't he have been able to see that for himself? And how is the college/city police set up that the city officers can give orders to the campus cops?

I don't know the specifics in this case. But our university cops were deputized by the county sheriff dept. We were all warned about it during orientation so we wouldn't have the "rent-a-cop" mentality.
