Random Advice to FTM/FTD

The car seat thread reminded me.  If you are going to be a new parent, as well as SO learn how to take the car seat out of the car before the baby comes.  I watched my friends kid before daughter was born and realized I didn't know how to release the car seat when it was in the car because the release handle was hidden so I couldn't see it.  I was probably in the parking lot for over 5 minutes trying to figure it out.  I showed my husband before I went into labor so he would know and not look crazy in the parking lot at the hospital to bring in the seat when it was time to take baby home.  Wanted to put that out there before I forgot

When we installed the car seat for DD, we ended up slamming the seat into the roof getting it out the first time. I'm glad we practiced without a baby in it. When it finally came unsnapped it came out with the quickness.

I somehow missed how to unstrap my seat from my stroller.  Almost all car seats and strollers unhook the same way and I guess I was lazy since my stroller arrived when the baby was a week old.  I got stuck, crying in the Target parking lot with my newborn trying to figure out how to unhook it.  I had to look it up on my phone and it was the longest few minutes of my life waiting for the video to load.  Moral of the story, read all the manuals before using any gear.

Me too, and I'm not a FTM, but in my defense my youngest us 16.

After my friends baby girl was born, I got a frantic phone call about how to get the seat off the base. I giggled inside, until I realized I had the same issue after DS was born.

It took me a few tries to figure ours out at first- now it's second nature but I've watched my parents struggle with it for a few minutes before looking at me like "what the hell am I doing wrong?!"
