Cloth Diapering

Intro/Newborn Stash

Hey all! I'm a FTM due April '15 and I'm excited to start CD! I've been habitually lurking this board and really appreciate all the info you ladies put out here. My family threw an early baby shower while I was in town over the Thanksgiving holiday and thankfully a lot of our CD necessities were gifted to us. The stash is almost complete (I think) aside from a few accessories and it would be great if you all could check it out to see if I'm overlooking anything.

NB Stash:
2) Econobum NB Covers (aplix)
4) Thirsties Duo Wraps Sz1 (aplix)
6) Econobum NB Prefolds
36) Unbleached Osocozy Infant Prefolds
6) Charlie Banana XS
2) Lil Joeys AIO
2) Blueberry Newborn Simplex

OS Stash:
4) BG Elemental
4) BG Freetime (snaps)
2) BG 4.0 (snaps)
4) Bumkins Snap in One (snaps)
2) Flip Covers (snaps)
1) Econobum Cover
6) Regular Prefolds
8) Receiving blankets as flats

Accessories:
1) Econobum Wetbag
1) Charlie Banana Wetbag
2) Pail Liners
24) Cloth Wipes
2) 100ct Bumkins Disposable Liners
6) Fleece Liners

I think I still need more wipes, some snappis, and a yard or so of fleece to make some more liners but any input you all have would be great!

My apologies on this turning into a novel and excuse the generic avatar...this is my first post on any Bump board. Looking forward to getting more involved!

Re: Intro/Newborn Stash

  • Looks good to me!  Lucky you for getting a lot of CD's as gifts.  You may want to grab some CD safe diaper cream.  Otherwise, it looks like you're set.  You'll probably want more OS diapers depending on how often you want to wash, but it's better to hold off on those purchases til you have your baby anyway.  Besides, keep stalking this board and you will want to buy.all.the.diapers!  Welcome!  =;

    Hello and congrats.

Yep, more wipes, snappis, and fleece.  Some CD safe cream.  And detergent you want to wash them in.  I think a couple of things that seem to get overlooked (probably because they aren't "necessary") is a water test strip- in case you don't know what your water is like.  And some wool dryer balls- if you are interested in those.

  • Hi! I'm mostly a lurker too but I'll share that 48 wipes is my sweet spot, and 2 Snappis does it for us. If you want to start simple and see how it goes you can try coconut oil for diaper cream alternative (but have something on hand to "treat" if needed, which your liners will be good for). Congrats and best wishes in your final months of pregnancy!

  • I didn't like my econobum newborn covers. The velcro strip was stiff and irritated her stomach. I would get some blueberry mini coveralls instead.

  • I'm due in April too! I'm super exited to get to use cloth diapers again and I can't belive how much the game has changed since my dd was little.
  • Thanks all for the input and tips. Great suggestions!
  • If you are eventually sending LO to daycare, I think you would want more than 2 wetbags.
