First day back at work (AW)

Yesterday was my first day back and despite a few tears and some painful bbs when I couldn't pump right away, it went OK, but seeing my little girls' reaction when I walked into the house and picked her up was easily one of the best feelings I've ever had in my life. I guess being away all day really gave me a new perspective. I don't know if I thought she wouldn't recognize me or what, but I guess being away and then coming home made me realize that everything will be ok.

How did we all get so lucky?

Yesterday was my first day back too and I cried twice before leaving the house! DH brought him by work for me and then I cried again. Haha.

I wish I didn't work such long hours (10hrs +) but coming home and feeding him was the best part of my day. I think he'll be able to fix any bad day.

Question... How long did it take you to pump? Including set up and clean up. I think my boss is going to kill me I'd I keep taking 45 mins.

I have been back at work for three weeks, and I was having a horrible day on Monday. Living close enough to work is a blessing. I come home for lunch most everyday and I love it. It really helped that day to be able to come home, see my family, nurse LO, and watch TV with DS. It made me feel so much better.

I pump 2x a day 10 & 2. Before I leave the house in the morning I get everything ready for the first pump to cut down on time. I pump for 15 minutes then when I'm finished I clean up and go ahead and get my next two bottles ready for the 2 PM it took me some time but I eventually got it down to 20 min. This is silly but I actually times myself the first few times to see how long I was taking.

This week was my first week back too. Each day gets little better. Pumping has been taking me awhile too. Probably about 30 minutes total. I'm hoping it will get quicker, I don't know how long I can get away with that at work.

I'm going back to work next Wednesday. It's good to hear that my LO won't forget about me in one day of work! My mind has been running wild

I returned to work this week also. It's been tough. My worst times are right after DH leaves with LO in the morning and the last hour or so before DH gets home with her. So far DD has been having a tough time adjusting. Some days she naps well, but most days she doesn't, and when she's overtired she only eats about half of her norm. How long did it take your LOs to adjust after returning to work (for those of you who have been back for a little while).

My LO does this too. She becomes inconsolable for DH during the day and won't stop crying for the longest time. I've been back for three weeks. Some days are better than others, but she's not fully adjusted yet. He tries everything, but she just cries and cries until she gets hungry enough to finally eat, or falls asleep in his arms.

For me, I'd say the whole process takes about 20 minutes. Set up takes a few minutes because I use a pumping bra, so I can still type while pumping. The actual pump takes about 15, and I throw everything in my cooler after and throw it in the fridge (so no real clean-up after the first pump)! I also have the medela wipes which make clean up really easy. I boil all the pump parts once a day when I get home. My biggest challenge is that coworkers and employees are constantly knocking on my office door when I'm pumping...

I've been back to work for 3 weeks now and I pump twice during my 8 h&r shift. It takes me 20 minutes from the time I leave my desk to the time I'm back in it. I think you just get quicker with practice.
