TTC after 35

FSH and AMH results

Hi everyone,

So I got my results and my FSH is 7.0 and the AMH is 2.89.  These results were given to me by the nurse, still waiting for the doctor to call me. She said the results were "normal" for my age which is 36. What does normal mean though? To me normal at age 36 probably isnt too good because is anyone really that fertile at my age? Sorry if I sound ignorant, I just dont understand what normal means....Thanks for any feedback.

Re: FSH and AMH results

  • I have no experience with these numbers but wanted to say that if the doctors don't seem concerned you should probably just take it in stride and not stress too much over it. 36 isnt that old yet ;)  and if you are generally a healthy person I think you should have pretty good chances at this age. I'm 36 as well and like to consider myself still in my prime :-) Just remember that the body can be sensitive to stress so try to relax as much as possible. Good luck!

  • 36 is nothing in the fertility world. Your AMH is great as is your FSH. Don't fret!

I like this site for explanations and values. Remember that there is SO much more than our numbers that determine our chances each month.

  • Those are both really good numbers from what I know. They want to see AMH above 1 (but below 4, typically) and FSH below 9, I believe.

  • Thank you ladies

  • My clinic misread my numbers as the doc reported them in Canadian measurement and the clinic doc thought they were in the standard measurement used in the USA. So for a week I thought I had horrible low reserves. Turned out I had great ones. Those numbers look strong to me if the standard measurements were used! Average is much better than "low" - so don't stress. Stress is counter-productive!
