Read you wanted to infuse some life into this

Re: Read you wanted to infuse some life into this

  • This is horrifying. You do not rip babies away from their mother and father - especially when they're BF! - unless there is no other viable option. Very scary.

  • Whenever I hear these kinds of situations, I always think the fully story is not being reported. I really doubt this is about a home birth and eczema cream. I read that there were (reported) domestic issues with the couple even before the kids were born, so maybe there are multiple issues at play.

  • This couple is actually a friend of a friend. There is sooooooo much more to the story. Unfortunately CPS can't comment, so we are getting a one sided version.

I think that this is highly one sided.  Plus some things that stick out to me is that
1- she had a 10 month old.  I find it HIGHLY unlikely that her twins were full term.  And from the article she doesn't know if they were either. So she gave birth to premature babies, with no idea or plan about what to do if they had issues with being born early- oh they would call the paramedics.... yes because they are RIGHT there in the room and are trained in premature infants, there is also no mention of a midwife present at the birth- so who is doing this eval of the babies?  the non medically trained parents?  My boys were over 5 pounds when born- and they were 34 weeks gestation.  So just because a baby is over 5 pounds doe not mean they might not have issues.  This raises a lot of questions on the judgement of the parents.
2- no mention of if she knew she was having twins BEFORE birth. She " had prenatal care". But not with a Dr.  so who provided this care and what kind of training did they have?  Because midwives are ok- those that are nurses with extra schooling and training working with/under the supervision of an OB.  Problem is that there are people who call themselves "midwives" that have no real medical training- they might have taken some kind of class and attended a set number of births so they call themselves a midwife.  In many states these midwives are not recognized as medical professionals. And I side eye a midwife that thinks it is ok to home birth twins.
3- I suspect that she did know about the twins.  This would mean that the birth center probably would NOT accept her since twin pregnancies are higher risk than a singleton. So instead of going to the "dirty hospital" she decided that a home birth was just the thing, I question this decision.
4- She was lucky that both were in correct position and the second stayed that way.  This could have ended badly, and to me shows bad judgement.
5- As for the medical diagnosis after they were removed---- well reflux is VERY common in preemies- one of mine had a mild case that required meds. Ear infections happen to most kiddos too, and pneumonia can happen to any child too- the key here is that they were taken to a Dr and treated by proven medical practices.

  • Yes, as others have stated, this news source is biased and I believe there is more going on here.

I found this update from yesterday from the Facebook page of ParentalRights.org:

Here is an update from Washington State lawmaker Jason Overstreet, a witness to today's hearing involving Erica May and Cleave Ring and their three precious babies:

UPDATE: The Rengo Family placement hearing was continued...again...to Friday morning at 9 a.m.. The political pressure being exerted by an outraged public is very obviously reverberating from the Governor's office on down. The state wrapped up within 20 minutes, trying at the close of their argument to introduce new exhibits showing medical problems with one of the babies. The only problem was that the diagnosis for pneumonia, ear infections and reflux were well after the babies had been removed from their breast feeding mother. The State fumbled, with the defense objecting to the haphazard manner in which the State introduced those documents. The State, realizing it's mistake, withdrew one of the documents and moved on. At that point the defense team proceeded to systematically disassemble the State's premise--the family argues; there are "mental health issues" in the home; and the parents weren't adequately using the rash cream. When the defense questioned the CPS supervisor as to whether or not the parents' religious beliefs were a consideration in this case, the State objected and the commissioner was very leery of the issue, demanding that the defense proceed carefully. I'll leave you to think about that one. The State is on thin ice and they know it. At one point during cross-examination, being pointedly questioned by one of the defense attorneys asking incredibly damaging questions to the State's case, the court commissioner had to ask the CPS supervisor on the stand to speak up because "your voice is fading." Mine would have been fading too.

This is not a comfortable conversation, it's true. I shudder the horror of your family, or mine, under a microscope of the bureaucracy that is CPS. Please pray for the family and all involved, that all would have clarity and that justice would prevail.

  • Yeah, I am positive there is more to this. They sound like there is some mental illness going on.

Yes - CPS/human services are so overloaded, they cannot and do not just arbitrarily take away children! The abuse/neglect would be severe if CPS intervenes and only after following protocol to determine it was appropriate and necessary!

    ETA - crazy auto correct!
  • I don't know what's going on here but I have had multiple students who I have contacted CPS about. There is usually very little they can do, even in situations where there truly is abuse and/or neglect. It takes a lot for them to intervene at all and taking away someone's kids is a serious step.

That's not to say I don't believe them but... I wouldn't be surprised to find out there is a lot more to this story.

I don't know, I don't think I'd call Ella's syndrome made up since she was diagnosed by 4 doctors with it. [Source is:] https://medicalkidnap.com/2014/11/06/munchausen-syndrome-by-proxy-a-fake-psychiatric-disorder-used-to-medically-kidnap-children/

I do think Munchausen by Proxy should be only diagnosed by a doctor, and the reality of it is that specialists in it are rare. This little girl is so sick I can see why the mom went to extreme efforts, because she was probably looking for a cure.

Unfortunately vaccine injuries do really occur, but records from vaccine courts are sealed: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-kirby/post2468343_b_2468343.html

I think the main problem with the Rengo family court case and the Vaccine Injury Court is that they are held in secret, but they need to be public. It should be the parents' choice on whether to make it public or not, and just not include the childrens' names, or footage of the children if they happened to be present.
