FTM Wetbag questions

Regarding a large wetbag to keep in the nursery.  We will have it hanging off the end of the changing table.

1) Its my understanding that its better to keep the wetbag unzipped, so air can circulate - it helps keep stink down.  Correct?

2) If I am correct with #1, I need some opinions - we have 1 large Bummis wetbag that came with the stash we bought.  But I need to get a second bag to alternate out while Bag #1 is in the wash...  In the interest of being thrifty, I just purchased a large GroVia pail liner rather than another Bummis brand bag (it was about 1/2 the price on Amazon).  My husband has since put all kinds of doubt in my head that using a pail liner w/o an actual pail will just lead to a huge mess (even though the pail liner is supposed to be waterproof PUL, just like the wetbags).  Can anyone weigh in?

3) If using the pail liner is going to be a mistake, and i'm better off with an actual wetbag - anyone have any brand recommendations in addition to the Bummi's brand? (Looking for something pretty identical in size, about 24"x24").    (Double bonus if its a brand I can find on Amazon).

TIA!

  • I use a cheap alva pail liner as a hanging wet bag. No leaks, Ben with the zipper at the bottom.

  • 1. Yes, keep it open.

    2. You'll be fine using the pail liner. I use two pail liners in rotation, and they really just hang there ;)

  • Thanks!  We're gonna give it a go!
  • I would say if you want to hang the bag, get a hanging wetbag.  If you want to get a pail liner, get a trash can to put it in.

And yes, leave it open/unzipped or no top.  If it stinks you likely have a washing routine problem.
