Middle name help for Braylon

I know this is technically a made up name but my husband and I made the decision long ago that if this baby was a boy he would get to name him, and he's been set on this name for years. Any how, we're completely stuck on a MN. We like Braylon James but don't want him to be called BJ so any J middle name is out of the question.

Re: Middle name help for Braylon

  • Do you like Braylon?  I think it's really important that both of you love the name.

    Braylon Salvatore
    Braylon Reid
    Braylon Alexander
    Braylon Nathaniel
    Braylon August

  • Just not Edward (football player)
  • My H has the initials BJ and never once was it used or was he picked on for it. If you like Braylon James, just use it.
  • My DS has the initials BJ and nobody thinks twice about it. If you don't give him that as a nickname I don't think you will have a problem with it.
  • Braylon Rhys
    Braylon Reid
    Braylon Carter
    Braylon Phillip
    Braylon Michael
    Braylon Spencer
    Braylon Patrick
    Braylon Nicholas
    Braylon Matthew
    Braylon Scott
    Braylon Edward
    Braylon Dominic

I would also consider it for the middle name though
  • I like James Braylon (as previously mentioned).
  • I'm not a fan of Braylon. Braylen might be a tiny bit better but still brutal. But If you must, What about Braylon Alexander, Braylon Adam, Braylon Nicholas, Braylon David..... Or not Braylon, surely you can negotiate this.... It's your child's name for god sake. Don't do ittttt.
  • Get a new husband :P
  • Issue 1, you need veto power.
Issue 2, BJ isn't that horrible. I survived it just fine. And BJ Novak is a well known writer and actor who purposely goes by his initials.
If you cave and insist on no J names, I suggest Charles, Dean, Isaac, Lee, Miles, Michael (but you may have an issue with BM as well), Paul, Timothy, Vance
  • I never understand this "deal making" when it comes to naming another human being. Daddy gets to name the boy? And mommy names the girl? So ridiculous and immaturely! You need to grow up and become a parent. You and your H need to do this together...it is a GROWN UP thing to work together on naming you children!
  • How about Braylon as a middle name? As a first name it's just effeminate, made up, and I can't imagine a grown man with the name.

Sorry I didn't mean to post and run, I'm still working and have four other children to tend to... To be honest I kinda forgot to check.

I do like it and at first had no idea it was a completely made up name. It wasn't so bad like naming your kid Unique or Star so I didn't really think it was a big deal. I personally love the name Owen or Oliver and wanted that as a first name. I like Braylon but would probably fall back on a more traditional middle name. Since I've seen the comments about BJ not being a big deal I think I'll reconsider the whole James as a MN idea.

This was more of a compromise thing since this is the last baby and our only child together not some weird sexist I can't fend for myself and give my opinion, because trust me I'm fully aware of my veto power.

*edit: words and it's too early for words

  • I would go with a one syllable name like Sean, George, Carl and something mild or traditional. Here is a site that might help.

  • Not a fan of Braylon, however, you asked for opinions on the middle name and not what we think about the first name. I say Braylon Alexander or Braylon Thomas. Good luck!
  • @alyralfs‌ thank you I appreciate that

While I value your criticisms... I would think it's a teensy bit obvious that I'm taking any of it to heart. You're all entitled to your opinions, which is why I'm not crying about it. Thank you for the responses, we've decided on James as a MN.
