Cloth Diapering

About panties...

So E is doing really good about wearing panties except for naps and overnight.  She almost never has pee accidents, but she has been having some poo accidents.  Not sure why.  But she does have ploppable poo (knock on wood) so it's not too bad.

But here's my question... what do you do with the panties if there is a ploppable poo accident?  I have been plopping the poo, then throwing them in the wetbag because there is a little bit of poo streaks.  (OMG I'm so sorry for all these words I keep saying.)  I felt weird about them being in her open laundry basket.  Plus diapers get washed more frequently than clothes, so there is a quicker turnaround time.

I don't know.  What do you do?  Wetbag or laundry basket?

Re: About panties...

  • Wet bag.  And they get washed with the diaper laundry  I do the same if she has accidents and her pants get wet (this happens at daycare sometimes she has bad days).

I figure they should go through the same rinse and then wash routine that the diapers get put through.

  • Mine is nowhere near potty training, but if i had this problem, I would totally wash them with the diapers. I don't think it's a huge deal one way or the other, though. If I didn't have another in diapers, I would probably rinse them and put them in the hamper.
  • Wet bag. And we wash with the diapers.

Can I just say PT sucks? When does "I want to wear undies" actually mean they are going to use the potty for real this time? R does so well when she's pantless, but will have accidents left and right with undies on. Needless to say, we're back in diapers.

TJ, I have my fingers crossed for E's success!

  • Yep, throw them in the wet beg. It worked better for me that way.

  • I wash all undergarments with the diapers since it bulks up my diaper load without over filling or knocking the washer off balance. And yes, my crew know to thrown them into the diaper pail immediately upon exiting the bathroom post shower or upon removal from body whichever is appropriate. (Does NOT mean it happens all the time)

Excellent.  Good to know I'm with the majority.  (So far.)

ETA: Although hopefully some of the negative elephants around here will come in and tell me how I'm snarky and quick to judge, and ought to be stuffing the poopy panties into the puffy jacket pockets for added insulation on the 4 wheelers.

What are you doing cleaning those!  You shouldn't be putting poop in your washer!  Just toss them in the garbage!

    (Is that better?)
I was at a party talking to the SIL of one of my best friends about this.  She had triplets at first and she said she DID throw any poopy underwear in the garbage because she just couldn't deal with it!  I think she has 5 or 6 kids now.  I was dumbfounded and couldn't even think of a reply appropriate for someone I'd just met.
