Registering at two places..?

I don't know if this question has been asked or not. I was wondering how you guys will go about registering for two places? I was thinking BRU and BBB do you just do the exact same list? split the list? I really wanted to register for solely BBB, however there are not many around for my family and I don't want to make it too much of a pain in their butt. I really dislike the BRU close to my house, but they have some things I like that are available at both places and I love that they have more on sale than BBB.

Re: Registering at two places..?

  • I would not have duplicates unless you want them.

I would split up the registry between the two places.

  • I registered at target and bru I did do duplicates because you can always return if needed but some stuff on each is unique because they don't have the exact same stuff....

  • I would not register for 2 of something (1from each place) unless you want 2.

  • Definitely don't register for duplicates unless you want to have a lot to return.

  • I registered at BRU and Target. I did register for items at both places in case one place was more convenient than others and kept an eye out for duplicates. The only duplicates I received were from the Target registry that apparently didn't come off the list when purchased.

  • I also registered at BRU and Target. I am flying home to see family, and while down my family is hosting my shower. Since there isn't a BRU and Target near where everyone lives, I decided to do both and register for duplicates. I can always return if needed.

  • Between our two registries, I tried to split items up between the stores - smaller accessories at Target and bigger items at BBB.  But there are a handful of overlap items.  The overlap items are ones that may only be available online at one but in-store at another, and I'm hoping someone gets (or I'll get at whatever place offers the better deal).  You can always return items.  But like a lot of people mentioned, you don't want 2 of everything - so I wouldn't do a stright up duplicate list.

  • I asked this on another thread but it was a busy one so I think it may have been overlooked. Has anyone used babylist? Thoughts? It's cute but is it worth the hassle of people possibly not "getting" how to manually reserve a gift?

  • I was planning on using babylist. But am curious what other ppl thought. I figured it gives ppl options to get items online or store, plus where to find the best deal.
However, I did start registries at the big stores so I could get the free gifts and/or coupons.
  • As long as you don't mind dealing with returns, duplicates are fine especially if it's something you really want.   Another thing you can do is monitor your list online as you go along, and you can always delete items that someone has picked up at the other store. This will ruin the surprise of gift opening, but it's one way to avoid duplicates.

  • I personally would not register for duplicates. I'm too lazy to go return things.
  • I did BBB and Amazon. Definitely no duplicates. I got enough duplicates without registering for double.

  • I would worry about the how the guests who duplicate gifts would feel.  Small stuff is no big deal, but duplicating larger items and they will feel weird about it.  A couple of people asked about babylist.  I am personally not partial to it.  It gets too muddled.  Most people over 50 want to walk into a store and look at physical items.  They don't buy online much.  For showers especially they want to buy in person even if shipping is free.  Babies r us and Target do a lot of in person baby gift selling for this reason, it is how most people like to do baby gifts.  The baby lists that combine multiple registries come off as greedy and complicated to older people.  I like them because I am used to buying online and it is easier for me, but other showers I've attended only the younger people used them.
  • @jesslfar‌ this is exactly my reasoning for being concerned about babylist. I started a fake registry on there with cute stuff from etsy and random stuff from PB Kids. I'm not registering for furniture so all "bigger stuff" (stroller, car seat, etc) will be BBB. I'll see how my registering goes at BBB and see if I should keep the babylist one. I feel like my friends and younger guests would be into it, but def not for necessities.

  • I'm only doing BabyList. I just don't want to be tied to only one or two stores. If people don't manually mark items as purchased, I'll just return duplicates.
