Our sitter called off tomorrow, sigh. Any fun craft ideas? I'd like to make the most of my time with W and make sure the TV stays off unless I get a call I have to take for work.
On another note, our sitter takes a boatload of paid vacation days, and has had to call off so much this year on top of it (also paid......I guess). We just let it go, but damn.
How ambitious are you feeling?? I think this is adorable, but there is no way I could get Jasper to participate long enough for anyone to know what it was supposed to be
Nancy, Cal & I have done quite a few of the handprint/thumbprint things. :-) It's fun. Painting is huge in our house...if you have literally anything she can paint...canvas, paper, empty cereal box cut open, etc. Nancy will paint anything.
We also made "snow" with Ivory soap in the microwave, which was super cool and took up a good 45 minutes of time, which in toddler time, is like a lifetime.
Thanks ladies, I'll see how the morning goes! The doofus was up all night. I have no idea what the issue was. I'm exhausted and it makes me scared for February when the tiny arrives - I forgot how awful you feel without sleep.
I second the painting. A few years ago I bought a bunch of $1 wood frames from Michaels and let Brody paint them. Then I put a picture in it and gave it to the grandparents for Christmas. A cute picture of the kid + handcrafted. It worked well.
Otherwise - what about baking/decorating cookies together? I love an activity I can eat.

We're doing family baking day on Sunday with my Aunt, Mom & cousin. Nancy just keeps saying "I eat all the cookies Mommy."
Her idea and mine of making memories are very different.
I was also going to suggest baking or making candy, partially because I always do that anyway this time of year to hand stuff out to the mail carrier, trash guys, coworkers, etc. It's like two birds with one craft stone.
For a snack, try popcorn on the stove. It's like a five minute activity, but DD loves watching the kernels pop and then we both love eating it.

My husband makes popcorn on the stove and just recently Lily has started joining him in both the making and the eating of the popcorn. It's so interesting to her that it has even allowed me to take an uninterrupted bath!
