DD will be 3 in Feb and has had a toddler pillow for a few wks now. We just moved her to a toddler bed a few days ago which has gone great but now I'm finding her in the MOTN with her face under the pillow or squished along the sides. It's freaking me out! I know everyone says pillows are safe at this age but does anyone else's LO do this too? Anytime I wake up in the MOTN I go check on her bc I'm worried. Should I be?
I wouldn't worry about it. DS has had some form of a pillow (or 2 or 3) in his crib since he was 1. It's 50/50 when I check on him whether his head will be under one (or a blanket) or not. I've watched him roll around on his monitor in his sleep, moving the pillow on his head or off depending on whatever is comfortable (I assume). FWIW, the pillows he uses are pretty firm, so it tends to just lay on top of his head without the sides falling from gravity over his face. That might make me more cautious.
No, you're cool. Those toddler pillows are so small and light that she'd have no problem moving it in her sleep if she got too squished in. Unless she has other kinds of breathing problems, by this age, I don't think suffocating on a pillow is an issue anymore.
I wouldn't worry about it, the pillows are so light they can't do any harm. Plus she's at an age, if she had difficulty breathing she can move on her own and adjust herself.
